Horse Judging Project First Horse Judging meeting will be November 10, 2013 at 1pm at the Encinal Veterans Park. KARINA SAUCEDA received Reserved Breed Champion with her Charlois & TRISTEN MARTINEZ had 2 Breed Champions, 1 Reserve Breed Champion, American Division Champion, Exotic Reserve Champion & Overall Reserve Grand Champion on October 26, 2013 at the 2 nd Annual Buckaroo Showdown in Freer, Texas. Goat Clinic This year s Goat Clinic will be held on December, 14, 2013 at 9am at the LaSalle County Fairbarn. We encourage exhibitors to bring their goat. Join Us On Facebook! We ve established a group page on Facebook that we ve named LaSalle Co. 4H. This group is private and a request to join must be made. Posts to this group page will be viewable by members of the group but will show up on your personal Facebook page so they re easy to view and keep up with for those of you with an existing Facebook page. The goal of this group page is to share pictures, county programs ideas, successes in the county, etc All members of the group will be able to post items on this page as well. To request joining this group, you ll need a Facebook account if you don t already have one! Run a search for LaSalle Co. 4H then click on the request to join button! It s that easy! We ask that all 4H Officers and Club Managers have access to our group page, as we will be posting up important information for their 4H Clubs.

4H & FFA Booster Club Sets Attendance Policy! The LaSalle Co. 4H and FFA Booster Club, (Which runs the Livestock Show) has instituted a rule that states: To be eligible to show at the LaSalle Co. Livestock Show, all 4H and FFA members must attend at least 50% of their respective chapter or club meetings. If you miss a 4H meeting and would like to have a make up, you can attend a LaSalle County Council meeting. Remember, your 50% attendance does not start until you are a bonified 4H Member. This means you have to be enrolled. Seniors You can apply for the 2014 Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship by clicking on this link. TEXAS 4- H AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 2014 NATIONAL 4-H CONFERENCE OPPORTUNITY WHAT IS NATIONAL 4- H CONFERENCE? The National 4- H Conference is the Secretary of Agriculture s premier youth development opportunity to engage youth in developing recommendations for the 4- H Youth Development Program. The National 4- H Conference is a working conference in which youth and adults- - at the invitation of the Secretary of Agriculture- - assist in the development of recommendations to help guide 4- H Youth Development Programs nationally and in their communities. This event brings together youth, volunteer leaders, and state and county Extension staff members from across the United States, the U.S. Territories, and the Canadian Provinces. As the sponsor for this conference, the National 4- H Headquarters- - located within Families, 4- H, and Nutrition at the U.S. Department of Agriculture s (USDA s) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) - - is charged with sharing the recommendations that emerge from the conference with the Secretary of Agriculture, national Extension Program Leaders, and others who determine 4- H programs. At the same time, ensuring that the conference is a meaningful experience for the youth and adult participants. LOCATION: The 2014 National 4- H Conference will be held at the National 4- H Youth Conference Center. The National 4- H Youth Conference Center is located in a quiet, 12- acre campus- like setting in Maryland, one mile from the nation s capital, making it the perfect gateway to Washington, D.C. s leaders, monuments and museums. WHO SHOULD APPLY? The National 4- H Conference requires youth who are focused and committed to working during the Conference and in their state. The Texas delegation will consist of 10 youth delegates, who need to engage in pre- and post conference work and participate in all scheduled conference activities. The minimum age requirement for a Texas youth delegate is 15 years old (must be by January 1, 2014). The maximum age for a youth delegate is 18. APPLICATION PROCESS: Applications must be submitted online and certified through 4HCONNECT by December 15, 2013. Final selection of delegates will be made on the basis of the online application. The final selection of delegates will be announced on, or before, December 20, 2013. Please refer to the Application/Nomination for 4- H Recognition Form (4- H 3-2.041) to help you complete the online application. This form is available from the Publication page of the Texas 4- H and Youth Development Program website (http://texas4- h.tamu.edu). COST: The delegate s share of registration, adult chaperone registration, lodging, airfare, meals, and transportation costs is $2000.00. This registration fee will be due on January 15, 2013. TEXAS DELEGATION MEETING LOCATION: The Texas delegates will meet at either the Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston or the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in Dallas (depending on the cost of airline tickets and the geographical makeup of the delegation). All travel costs to the airport to meet the group is the responsibility of the delegate.
