COLD NORTON PRIMARY SCHOOL SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY It is our school policy that all children wear and comply with school uniform when attending school or when participating in a school-organised event. Our policy on school uniform is based on the notion that school uniform: promotes a sense of pride in the school; engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school; is practical and smart; identifies the children with the school; prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting in class; makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance; is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents; is designed with health and safety in mind.

SCHOOL UNIFORM Early Years and KS1 Winter Girls - Red sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo. White polo (with school logo) or school shirt Plain or pleated grey skirt or pinafore, OR grey trousers (not leggings). White socks OR grey tights, black flat shoes. (NB Ballet shoes without a strap are not suitable for playing football or using playground climbing apparatus.) Plain red, grey, black or red check headbands. Long hair must be tied back. Boys - Red sweatshirt with school logo. White polo (with school logo) or school shirt. Grey trousers, grey or black socks, plain black shoes (not trainers). (NB Ballet shoes without a strap are not suitable for playing football or using playground climbing apparatus.) Summer P.E. /Games Kit Plain red, plain grey, plain black or red check headbands. Long hair must be tied back. Boys - Red cardigan or V neck jumper with school logo is preferred White school shirt. Red/grey striped tie. Grey trousers, grey or black socks, plain black shoes (not trainers). Girls - As for winter OR red and white gingham checked dresses, black or white sandals with secure heel straps. Boys- As for winter but grey school shorts may be worn. White T shirt or polo shirt with school logo, black shorts, black plimsolls. Suitable outdoor kit for winter months: sweatshirt-style top with no hood and joggers (dark colours please). PE kit is part of school uniform should be in class daily.

A school fleece is also available, for outdoor wear. We request that coats be plain and waterproof. Hoodies may not be worn in place of a school fleece or coat. It is requested that all children wear smart black, low- heeled shoes for school. Parents can purchase school uniforms directly from www.yourschooluniform.com. Health and Safety requirements mean that footwear must securely protect children s feet therefore children are not allowed to wear platform soles, high heels or shoes without a secure heel strap and a secure strap over the foot (e.g. ballet shoes, flip-flops). Neither do we allow children to wear trainers or plimsolls to school as this is not in keeping with the smart appearance of a school uniform. A named bag is essential for holding P.E. clothing. All uniform should be clearly marked with the pupil s name. The wearing of jewellery and other adornments is not permitted. This includes: all types of jewellery except sensible watches; all types of earrings; festival wrist bands; make-up; nail varnish and artificial nails; hair extensions; dyed hair; temporary tattoos and patterns cut into short hair. Watches may be worn but are the responsibility of the wearer and must be removed for PE. Autumn 2017
