Thank you to all who were able to join in our celebrations in any way especially our Welcoming School Liturgy. Congratulations to our Year 6 students who were formally inducted as our 2015 school leaders and who now move into their specific leadership roles. A busy end to this week with the annual St Joseph s/st Mary s Cross Country Carnival being held on Thursday while our Small Schools Relay Team will represent the school at the Catholic Primary Schools (CPS) Carnival on Friday in Homebush. Year 6 have swung into leadership mode with their first fundraiser for this year with St Patrick Day special treats today. All money raised will be donated to CARITAS. May the luck of the Irish be with you this week! Mrs Chris Baron WELCOME CAITLIN GIBLIN-CRANE A huge welcome is extended to Caitlin Giblin-Crane who has joined our Year 4 class at St Mary s. CAKE RAFFLE This Friday the 20th March the HOTHAM Family is asked to supply the cake for the cake raffle. Last week s lucky winner was Mary. Tickets 20c each sold at lunchtime. HOME COOKING this Friday 20th March Booby & Fisher FAMILIES are rostered on to cook All items sold for 20c. ST PATRICK S DAY A big thank you to our Year 6 leaders, for organsing some great St Patricks Day activities that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, especially the jelly and drinks which were a real hit! Year 6 raised $112.50 (an amazing effort) which will be donated to CARITAS (Project Compassion). Thank you to parents of Year 6 students for supporting the activities with green donations. SOUNDS OF THE MOUNTAINS RADIO PRESENTERS next Tuesday 24th March are Cassie and Jessica O Please tune into 96.3 at 2.15pm to catch up on the latest news from St Mary s! COMMUNITY COUNCIL WOOD RAFFLE A friendly reminder that all wood raffle tickets/money And stall roster helpers need to be returned ASAP. Thank you for supporting St Mary s. SAFETY NOTICE Batlow Show Society wishes to advise that from Monday 16th March 2015 construction associated with sideshows and other show activities may commence at Memorial Park in preparation for the show. In the interest of safety, unauthorised persons should not be in the vicinity of these activities prior to Show Day or during the pack up following the show. COMMUNITY COUNCIL EXECUTIVE MEETING Tuesday March 31st at 6pm. Any agenda items can be emailed to the school office office.stmarysbatlow@cg.catholic.edu.au By Tuesday 24th March. (Year 6 were most excited to help cut the cake!) Your generosity and help was MOST appreciated!

CROSS COUNTRY AND TRAINING The annual Cross Country event with St Joseph s Adelong is nearly here! The Sport Specialists have taken the role of training all students K-6 very seriously every day after lunch to help build student fitness levels for Thursday. Could students continue to bring their joggers to school EVERY DAY. Students will need to bring joggers to school with them and change before and after their run. The Cross Country will be held THIS Thursday and the bus will leave at 9.30am. Following Cross Country the students will return to St Joseph s school to celebrate St Joseph s day with a liturgy and special lunch. All permission notes are due by TOMORROW please. Sport uniform to be worn Thursday & Friday please. A reminder to anyone that can help sell raffle tickets in our wood raffle next Friday 27th. Please put your name on the roster sent home last week and return to school. Please return any sold tickets. Tissues Needed As the cough and cold season approaches we will need more tissues. Could each family please send in a box for the classrooms. Thank you BTS Canteen. Red liquorice and red jellies are no longer available from the canteen. SMALL SCHOOLS RELAY TEAM Our best wishes go with Makenzie Glynn, Cassie Brennan, Molly Baron & Aidan Jones as they head to Homebush THIS Friday to compete in the CPS Swimming Carnival. The team have spent many hours out of school time and on weekends training for this event. Special thanks are extended to Mrs Shelley Jones for volunteering to coach the team and to parents for making the commitment to support the training schedule. PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE 2015 The Premier s Reading Challenge (PRC) 2015 is now open for all students K-6 to enter. Students from K-2 are required to read 30 books (25 from the PRC list and 5 of their own choice.) Students from Years 3-6 are required to read 20 books (15 from the PRC list and 5 personal choice.) Parents are asked to enter their child's books on the PRC website. Please return the note on today s Newsletter if your child will be entering the challenge so we are aware who is completing the challenge and can validate your child s reading when completed. Assessment and Reporting Parent teacher meetings will be held next Tuesday 24th March for Year K/1 and Year 2/3. Miss Molloy will have Year 4/5/6 meetings early term 2. A note went home yesterday for parents to choose a time slot. Meetings will begin at 1:00 pm and go through to 6pm. Strictly 10 minutes each. Parents may request longer appointments. Please return notes ASAP. HOME READERS Could families have a look at home for any readers. Readers need changing every week, and not all readers are coming back to school. CROSS COUNTRY PERMISSION NOTE I give permission for my child/ren to travel by bus to the Adelong Golf Club and participate in the St. Joseph s/st Mary s Cross Country. I understand the students will then travel to St Joseph s School Adelong to participate in a St. Joseph s Day liturgy and special lunch before returning by bus to Batlow. I give permission for staff to administer first aid or seek medical attention if deemed necessary. I have enclosed $3 per child or $5 per family to cover the cost of travelling to the excursion.
