New CMS Phone Numbers: Calvert County Public Schools is in the process of implementing a new phone system. Calvert Middle School is one of the first schools to begin the new system, so all of our phone numbers have changed. The new main office number is: 443-550-8970

The new fax number is: 410-286-4007 When calling the main office, you will now have the option of connecting to our different departments using a new automated system. NJHS Tutoring: The National Junior Honor Society is offering tutoring for 6th graders on Tuesdays and 7th graders on Thursdays during A lunch. All core subject help is available. School Store: Need a pencil? Notebook? Paper? The school store will be open during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All proceeds from the store are used by Student Government to help others in our school and our community. General School Reminders School Messenger: School Messenger is a program that is used to send information out to parents and the community periodically through phone calls, email, and text-messages. CMS sends out an email weekly update that includes important calendar items and school announcements. If you would like to receive the School Messenger messages, please make sure your contact information is correct. This year, all of your contact information is being handled in the HAC system. If you are a parent or guardian of a student in CCPS, you will automatically receive School Messenger notifications at the email address and phone numbers that are on file for you in HAC. HAC is the only system where you may update your contact information. This year there is also a smartphone app that you can download for free from the Apple Store or Google Play Market. More information on the CCPS notification system, and how to change your contact information can be found on the CCPS website. School Hours and Parking: All students are allowed in the building starting at 7:10AM and need to be in first period class by 7:22AM. If you are bringing your child to school, please make sure that you allow enough time for your son/daughter to visit their locker and walk to their first period class. The parent drop off location is on the side of the building. Vehicles are not permitted in the front bus lanes in the morning or afternoon between 6:55AM and 7:25AM, and between 1:45PM 2:25PM. If you need to visit the school during these bus windows, please park on the side of the building. Car riders are dismissed in the afternoon after the buses have left at approximately 2:23PM. Bus Notes: Students that are planning to ride a different bus need to submit a bus permission note from their parent/guardian to the main office. Notes should be dropped off in the morning and should include contact information from the parent and/or guardian of the student. In addition, the address of the destination and bus number should be included on the note. The

main office verifies all bus notes that are submitted, and students are not permitted to ride a different bus without the office verification. Photographs and Videos of Students: Photographs and videos of students taken in school and at school events may be used in print and electronic media, including newspapers and the internet. This may include photographs and videos taken in classrooms, in other areas of the school building, and at events normally open to the public. Students may be identified by name in photograph captions. Parents who do not want photographs or videos of their children used in print and electronic media should notify the school principal in writing by September 30 th of each school year. Volunteers: Anyone wishing to volunteer in any of our schools or facilities will need to complete an online application at least two weeks prior to beginning service as a volunteer. Online applications are now available and can be accessed on calvertnet.k12.md.us from any internet connection. If completing an application online is not possible, paper applications are available in all schools. Applications can only be submitted after the prospective volunteer has completed all parts of the application process. Keep-N-Track: Calvert County Public Schools will be using KeepnTrack for visitors and volunteers to sign-in and sign-out of all schools and facilities. All visitors and volunteers will sign-in at a designated computer and the driver s license or other approved ID of the visitor and/or volunteer will be scanned using the KeepnTrack screening system. KeepnTrack will compare information from visitors and volunteers against the National Sex Offender Registry.
