For boys and girls in grades K-5 April 17 th 21 st 8:30-3:30 $125 per child At the Hut Participants must bring a bag lunch, snack and drink each day. Limited registrations accepted. Pre-registration required. ADULT PICKLEBALL Catch the latest athletic craze to sweep the nation! Similar to tennis and badminton, this smaller court sport is great fun for adults of all ages! TENNIS LEAGUE Open to boys and girls ages 12-18 All matches played on Thursdays at 5:30 pm Vernon Park Tennis Courts $25 per player Matches will begin July 13 th SPRING ADULT TENNIS LESSONS Instructor: Tina Schroeder All lessons held at the Vernon Park Courts CLASS SIZE IS VERY LIMITED! Beginners: Tuesdays, 5:30-7:00 Wednesdays, 10:30-12:00 Intermediate: Thursdays, 6:00-7:30 Mondays, 9:30-11:00 Cost: $85 residents / $95 non-residents CARDIO TENNIS Cardio Tennis is a new, fun, group activity featuring drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, highenergy workout. Cardio Tennis includes a warm-up, cardio workout, and cool down phases. If you want to find a healthy, new way to get in shape and to burn calories, you ought to try Cardio Tennis! Newport Recreation Department Summer Day Camp Programs PLAYGROUND PROGRAM Rookies boys and girls entering grades K-1 in the fall of 2017 Intermediates boys and girls entering grades 2-4 in the fall of 2017 Both the rookies and the intermediates meet at Vernon Park. In the event of rain, we meet at the Hut. The program runs from July 3 rd August 25 th Camp runs from 8:00 am 3:00 pm. Extended hours are available until 5:30 pm. Both the rookies and the intermediates will participate in a variety of games and activities during the week, as well as arts and crafts, tennis lessons, and weekly offisland field trips. A bag lunch is also included! Our playground program is staffed with trained leaders who are certified in CPR and first aid. Our maximum camper to staff ratio is 10:1. Every week will be a different theme and will include special events or visitors. Themes and field trip schedules will be released by April 1 st. EXTREME TEEN CLUB For boys and girls entering grades 5-8 in the fall of 2017 The Extreme Teen Club provides middle school aged students a place to congregate and participate in a supervised environment. A variety of activities, both active and passive, are offered. The Extreme Teen Club meets at The Hut from 8:00 am- 3:00 pm. Extended hours are available until 5:30. Weekly off island field trips to places such as Sky Zone, Water Wizz, and the Pawsox are all included in the weekly fee, as is a bag lunch! The Extreme Teen Club is staffed by trained leaders certified in CPR and first aid. The maximum camper to staff ratio is 10:1. The Extreme Teen Club is offered in weekly sessions beginning July 3 rd and ending August 25 th Register on-line at: Register.communitypass.net REGISTRATION OPTIONS AND FEES You may register for the Playground Program and the Extreme Teen Club on a daily or weekly basis. Please be advised that you must register for a minimum of two days. These days MUST be confirmed in advance!! All payments must be made on line or at the Recreation office and pre-registration is required. The camp staff is not authorized to collect any payments. Payments must be made at least one week in advance. Visa and Mastercard are accepted, as well as cash and checks made payable to the City of Newport. Option A: 8:00 am 3:00 pm Weekly Rate: $105 * ** *** Daily Rate (no trip): $ 30 Daily Rate (with trip): $ 40 Option B: 8:00 am 5:30 pm Weekly Rate: $130 * ** *** Daily Rate (no trip): $ 40 Daily Rate (with trip): $ 50 * Price for week 1 is $90 for A, $115 for B ** price for week 8 is $125 for A, $150 for option B ***In order to be eligible for week 8, you must register for at least one other week of the summer day camp program for a minimum of two days! All registrations MUST be done in advance!!!

Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, snowmobiles, catapults, and merry-go-rounds and then use special pieces to create your own unique design! July 10-July 14 Boys and girls ages 5-6 STEM CHALLENGE WITH LEGO MATERIALS Power on your engineering skills with tens of thousands of Lego parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as catapults, pneumatic cranes, arch bridges, and Battletracks! July 10-14 Boys and girls ages 7-12 1:00-4:00 pm Held at The Hut MINECRAFT ENGINEERING WITH LEGO MATERIALS Bring Minecraft to life using tens of thousands of LEGO parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as a motorized creeper, a portal to the Nether and a moving Minecart! Aug. 7-11 Boys and girls ages 5-6 MINECRAFT MASTER ENGINEERING WITH LEGO MATERIALS Bring Minecraft to life using Lego parts! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-bsed camp combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Aug. 7-11 Boys and girls ages 7-12 1:00-4:00 pm Held at The Hut EUREKA: THE INVENTS CAMP Run in conjunction with Mad Science Children will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important of all their mind. With a little bit of ingenuity children will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to take home and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs. July 31 st Aug. 4 th Boys and girls ages 6-12 Cost: $160 per child THEATER CAMP Instructed by Cici Dunn of Creatively Dunn Theatre Camp will provide its participants with A fundamental appreciation for the performing arts. through both traditional and non-traditional theatre games, participants will develop leadership skills and confidence in public speaking. Participants will have hands on opportunities to learn the craft and skill that go into producing and performing in front of a live audience! July 17 th 21 st Boys and girls entering grades 3-8 9:00 am noon Held at Thompson Middle School Cost: $50 per child

DANCE CAMP Instructed by CiCi Dunn and Recreation Staff Participants will learn several dances and techniques during the week and will perform a show for parents, families and friends at the end of the camp. July 24 th 28 th Boys and girls entering grades 1-8 9:00 am noon Held at Thompson Middle School Cost: $50 per child SOCCER CAMP Run in conjunction with UK International Soccer Offering a new, updated curriculum, age appropriate training and a focus on skill and personal development. This camp will offer a great experience for any young soccer player! July 17 th 21 st Held at Rogers High School Ages 4-6: 9:00 am 10:30 am ($90) Ages 5-14: 9:00 am noon ($135) Ages 7-14: 9:00 am 3:00 pm ($190) All participants will receive a camp tshirt and ball! TENNIS CAMP Run in conjunction with Elite Tennis All of the tennis camps are available to boys and girls ages 6-14. Participants will be divided into age appropriate groups. 9:00 am noon Held at Vernon Park Courts Tennis Camp 1: July 5 th -7 th (3 days only) $105 pp Tennis Camp 2: July 10 th 13 th (4 days only) $135 pp Tennis Camp 3: Aug. 14 th 17 th (4 days only) $135 pp SPECIALTY CAMP BEFE AND AFTER CARE All arrangements must be made in advance. Before Care: 8:00-9:00 am $20 per week or $5 per day Parents must drop off children at the Hut by no later than 8:45 am. Children are then transported to the camp location. Before Care: 8:00-1:00 $60 per week or $15 per day Children entering grades K-4 in the fall must be dropped off at Vernon Park. Children entering grades 5-8 must be dropped off at The Hut. After Care: noon-3:00 pm $40 per week or $10 per day Children entering grades K-4 are transported to Vernon Park. Children entering grades 5-8 are transported to The Hut.
