Welcome Letter From CSA s Executive Director and Board of Directors President The CSA Board of Directors and CSA Coaching staff would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to tryouts for the 2018-2019 season. In 2009, CSA was created with the merger between South Charlotte Soccer Association and Charlotte Soccer Club to create the city s only full service club offering every level of play to its member families. Five years ago, we welcomed the members of MUFC (Mecklenburg Union Futbol Club) to the CSA family. In 2015, we were pleased to announce the merger between ourselves and FCCA (FC Carolina Alliance), a longstanding and respected Club serving Cabarrus County and the surrounding area. We are also excited to be entering our third year of our newest program, CSA Huntersville. In the first two seasons, CSA Huntersville has had an overall enrollment of 300 plus players and we look forward to extending that opportunity to more children in that area. This year we are pleased to announce the merger between ourselves and Charlotte United Futbol Club. CSA and CUFC have an excellent professional relationship with similar philosophies and infrastructures. Bringing us both together creates countless new avenues for all youth players within the Charlotte soccer community. The first nine years have been a fantastic success and as we enter our tenth year, we are very excited about continuing our mission to be one of the country s top level clubs. CSA will continue providing children an opportunity to enjoy a higher level of soccer while still benefiting from team experiences in the same manner as in the past. The club continues to foster this family atmosphere while providing a soccer experience at the highest level of play available in the Carolinas and at the National level. Our full time Directors of Coaching and Executive Director provide a professional soccer atmosphere and a level of experience unsurpassed in the Charlotte region. CSA is proud to be a member of the US Soccer s Development Academy men s program. We are one of only 80 clubs in the nation and one of four in North Carolina to offer all age groups available at this highest level of youth soccer on the men s side. CSA is also excited to be recognized as one of the leading women s program in the country, having been offered a spot in the new USSDA program for women that begun it s inaugural season in 2017-2018. CSA is one of only 71 clubs in the country and one of only two in the state of North Carolina to be given this opportunity to play at the highest level in the country. CSA is also one of only two clubs in North and South Carolina to offer all levels of play for youth soccer. The CSA coaching philosophy is to bring young players together in a common setting of positive instruction based on the fundamentals of the game while instilling a personal sense of self-worth; both to themselves and the common good of the team. Each player has a part in striving to attain the team's goals for the season. At CSA, our goal is to provide a professional and family environment where players can improve their soccer skills, learn the lessons that playing in a competitive team sport environment brings and, most importantly, enjoy the experience and stay involved with the game, in some capacity, for the rest of their life. While winning is important, it is not the only thing, which is why a major part of our program is player development. Good luck in your tryouts! Brad Wylde CSA Executive Director Jim Cantalupo CSA Board President
Charlotte Soccer Academy Post-Tryout Information How do I find out if my child made a team? No offers will be made at the tryout venue. To be fair to all players, the coaches must spend every possible moment evaluating the players. At the venue, the coaches will be unavailable to answer questions or discuss teams or players. If your child is selected for a team, the team s coach or the age group Director of Coaching (DOC) will contact you by email or phone with an offer. He/she will instruct you that you have 24 hours from that time to accept the position. All parents/players will be contacted no later than 48 hours after the last age group tryout session, whether they have made a team or not. How do we commit to a team? First, respond to the coach or DOC via email or phone that you will accept the offer. Please make a note of the team name, level (Youth Academy, Classic, OPEN, Premier, Elite) and coach name at that time. If you want to think it over, please call or email the coach within the 24 hour period to guarantee your spot. Detailed instructions to accept an offer will be given to you by the coach or DOC or sent by email. Instructions will also be posted on our website. If you do not pay the commitment fee online within 24 hours, you will not be guaranteed the spot you were offered. Please ensure that your email is correct and current as important updates from the Club are sent via email. When do I meet my team and coach? If your child is placed on a team, it is very important that you and your child complete the necessary paperwork and drop off all forms at your assigned age group time/location during the first part of June (specifics listed below). During these Age Group Meetings, you will be able to meet your DOC (Director of Coaching) and team coach and have a chance to try on sizes for your uniform. Please expect an email with specifics as to the Age Group times. What happens over the summer?
