Dear Parents, We are gearing up for Catholic Schools Week 2016. Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service is the theme for 2016. The theme highlights the fact that Catholic schools are not only communities themselves, but also part of the communities, cities, and states where they are located. Catholic schools are known for their focus on academic excellence, faith development, and service to enable students to serve their communities and nation in the future. I hope you and your family will join us during our Catholic Schools Week celebration. Please bring your friends and neighbors, particularly those who may be thinking about Catholic education for their children. Please make every effort to be part of the many activities we have planned for this year s Catholic Schools Week. See below for the Catholic Schools Week events connected to the NCEA daily theme. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Make it "a day on, not a day off" In the spirit of Dr. King's legacy, the holiday for many has become the MLK Day of Service, an opportunity to make it "a day on, not day off," for people to serve in their communities. Locally, you can check with and contact the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Goodwill, and even animal rescue groups and shelters, to see what their most pressing needs are. They may still be short of volunteers for service projects on MLK Day or maybe you can drop by with a cash or goods donation. Quotes by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: If you can t fly then run, if you can t run then walk, if you can t walk then crawl, but whatever you do keep moving forward. I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear. The Fund for SHCS Reminder As parents, our long-term investment in your child s education will reap rewards for many years to come. You can also make a difference in their education today by making a gift to The Fund for Sacred Heart Catholic School. Tuition and fees only cover approximately 70% of the cost of educating your child. The Fund and Spring Benefit provide the rest. One hundred percent participation is the goal for each school year. Each family is encouraged to participate by making a gift or a pledge at whatever level is comfortable for them. Gifts of all sizes make a difference. The giving period runs through June 1 so be sure to send payments on your pledge or any gift before that time. For more information, please contact the School Office. Thank you for supporting this most important endeavor.
