Head of Sport Mr Gordon The term continues to move along with a number of sporting activities. In consultation with Mr Leechman, I have decided to implement the use of an SMS service to keep students informed by alerts and reminders with the goal of keeping students organized and up to date. The collection of student phone numbers will be purely for communication purposes and will not be used for any other means or given to students at all. Students when signing up for sports will be asked to supply their mobile phone numbers which will be stored on a website database using the service www.smsbroadcast.com.au. I believe this offers students and parents a number of advantages: inform students of last minute cancellations / forfeits Remind them to bring permission notes / equipment Inform of time and venue changes Efficient form of communication delivery A reputable company and use of a system designed for communication purposes. Should you have any concerns please contact me at enquires@arndell.nsw.edu.au. Arndell An opportunity has arisen to have Wayne Holdsworth a former NSW and Australian Cricket Player, to run some coaching sessions for students in our school who play representative level cricket. Arndell Sport seeks to offer more opportunities in other sports in the future. Swimming Results are on the website the top 10 places in each event have been listed. Swimming Carnival Manager Miss Patterson The Senior School Swimming Carnival was held on Monday the 11 th of February at Richmond Pool. The day was record breaking in many aspects. This was the biggest cohort Arndell has had compete, and we had 10 records broken with 5 individual and 5 house relays records being claimed. Despite many students giving their best efforts, participation continues to be something that we will continue to work towards improving. Competition was strong and we had some very close races on the day. I am really looking forward to seeing what our swimmers can do at the Hills Zone Swimming Carnival on the 5 th of March. Students representing the College with be notified during the week. The battles for Age Champions was in many cases very tight, however after checking and double checking our results I am pleased to announce the following Age Champions and Runners Up. Swimming Carnival Manager Miss Patterson The number of parents and guardians who were willing to volunteer their assistance was overwhelming and a real credit to the sense of community that the College exhibits. It was also wonderful to see the amount of spectators eager to support their children on the day. On behalf of the College I wish to thank Mr Carter and Ms Jarvo for volunteering as Swim NSW officials and Mrs Carter for getting the event approved with Swim NSW. Their involvement enabled the times from the carnival to be officially recognised and greatly assisted with the efficiency of the event. Furthermore I wish to acknowledge the efforts of the teachers who so eagerly fulfilled their duties on the day. The success of the carnival is a real credit to the teamwork and dedication they showed. The winning House will be announced at Assembly. The Day in Pictures
