Please help us to keep all the students and staff of LPA healthy. 4H Tropicana Public Speaking Contest We are so proud of each of our 5 th grade speech participants that were chosen to represent their classroom at our 2018 Tropicana Speech Contest. Our competition was held on Tuesday, January 30 at LPA and I am pleased to announce that our 3 rd place winner was Ava Varney in Mrs. Serra s Class, 2 nd place winner was Braden Motycka in Mrs. Loving s Class, and our 1 st place winner was Zoelle Huffman in Mr. Buckley s Class. Calling all Kindergarten Students for the 2018-2019 School Year If you or a neighbor have a child that will be entering Kindergarten for next school year the district has set the following dates and times for Kindergarten registration. We ask that bring your child with you as you register. The dates and times are: March 13 from 9:00-1:00, March 20 from 9:00-1:00, April 4 from 1:00-5:00, and April 11 from 1:00-5:00. WOLF NEWS Box Tops There were 2 box Top winners for second quarter: Mrs. Kelley (3 rd ) & Mrs. Loving (5 th ) They both will receive a $25 gift card of their choice and a party for the classroom. Please continue to send in your box tops! It is especially helpful if you can trim each of the box tops and put them in bags of 50 with the teacher s name on it so they can get credit for it! No expired box tops or Campbell soup labels are accepted. Congratulations Congratulations to the girls and boys soccer teams! Girls soccer won the middle school championship and the boys came in 2nd! Spirit Wear We encourage your students to wear their AVID shirts on Wednesdays and any spirit wear on Fridays! Media Matters Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida, was a great success at LPA. The goal for this year s Celebrate Literacy Week was to promote literacy and excellent reading habits in our students. District personnel, administration, and teachers read to students throughout the week. Our Scholastic Book Fair is almost here! Dates of the fair are Feb. 5-9, 2018. Our theme this year is Paws for Books. The Book Fair will also be open Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5:00 6:00, prior to AVID meetings. We are looking forward to another spectacular Book Fair. Who has read ALL 15 of the SSYRA books? Will Loving, Joshua Worthington, Ella Wen, Shreya Kalarikkal, Sebastian Stodol, Monica Posina, Alyssa Cronin, Conner Yates, Nathan Li, and Harper Willim. Thank you for making LPA Media Center the best ever! Laura Rogers Daddy Daughter Dance Save the Date! The LPA annual Daddy Daughter Dance will be on February 9 th. Kindergarten 2 nd grade will be at 6:00p.m. and 3 rd 5 th grades at 7:15p.m. More information will come home with your students this week! Operation Caring Hearts Fourth grade students created their own Valentine s Day hearts with messages of love and support to our soldiers and troops overseas. These hearts are hung outside of the USO office at the Jacksonville Airport before being shipped off to Sigonella, Sicily to be hand-delivered to deployed soldiers. LPA fourth graders loved practicing their writing by creating these messages to show our love and appreciation for all that our soldiers do to protect us. Happy Valentine s Day!
