FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE As we approach the end of another school year, please see the schedule for finals week for all students. Monday, May 21 st Regular school day Tuesday, May 22 nd Finals for hours 1, 2, and 3 -If a student has a first or third hour study hall, he/she is not required to be in attendance. However, study hall will be available. The school day ends at 12:35. This is a dress down day Wednesday, May 23 rd Finals for hours 4, 5, and 6 -If a student has a fourth or sixth hour study hall, he/she is not required to be in attendance. However, study hall will be available. The school day ends at 12:35. This is a dress down day -SENIORS have a MANDATORY graduation practice immediately following the sixth hour final. Congratulations to the CCHS Varsity Softball team on ranking 3 rd for Division 5! Thursday, May 24 th Final for hours 7 and 8 -If a student has a seventh hour study hall, he/she is not required to be in attendance. However, study hall will be available. -The school day is not over with the conclusion of finals. Finals end at 10:35. Mass will follow at 10:45. Because this is a mass day, it is a dress up day -After mass, Seniors will go to the luncheon in Heim Hall. All other students will go to lunch in the cafeteria. -While Seniors finish luncheon, all other students (after lunch) will return to the Main gym for ipad return. -Honors Convocation will begin at 12:30 until approximately 2:00pm. -After Honors Convocation concludes, yearbook pick up will take place in the Main gym. At this time, all students will be dismissed. Take 10 Life is busy. Take 10 seconds to meditate breathe in and let your mind rest, if even for this short time. You may find that taking these precious seconds are a great start to something more than you expected. Considering that you have 86,400 seconds to use in a day it s but a fraction to do something for yourself. SAVE THE DATE On June 16-26, Dr. Dan Scholz will be one of the guest lecturers on a pilgrimage with Archbishop Listecki and Pentecost Tours to Turkey and Greece. The pilgrimage is entitled "In the footsteps of Paul," and it will entail traveling to the cities where Paul evangelized such as, Corinth, Crete, Santorini and Ephesus. For all those unable to make the Pilgrimage, The Archbishop and Dan will be doing a presentation on Paul at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee on May 29. FROM THE DEVELOPMENT OFFICE Former Catholic Central High School Driver's Ed teacher, Patti Herda, and her husband, John '68, recently suffered severe damage to their fourth generation family farm in a fire that destroyed the main barn and silos and damaged the family home. In an effort to help the family, Catholic Central High School is collecting monetary donations to help with expenses. If you would like to contribute, prior to Friday, May 25th, please drop off your gift to Georgean Selburg in the Development Office. Checks can be made payable to: Patti or John Herda. There will be a meeting for anyone interested in being a part of this upcoming school year's Topper Auction on Wednesday, May 30th at 6:00 pm in the MAC classroom. Alumni Spotlight: Lindy (Douglas) Powell '04 is a Director of a school for children with hearing loss in Houston, TX. Lindy would like to offer Catholic Central High School students, who are interested in careers working with children with hearing loss, the opportunity to speak with her regarding universities that provide internships in Audiology, Speech Pathology and Deaf Education. FROM THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT Lady Toppers Softball 2018 Undefeated Conference Champions Regional Play begins for the Lady Toppers Wednesday - 23rd @ 5:00 p.m. Congress Field, Burlington Lady Toppers Soccer Thurs. May 17 th was Senior Night for Catholic Central Girls Soccer Team and, they celebrated with a 2-0 win over Martin Luther! Goals by Emma Klein and Sammy Seib. 17 Saves by goalie Mikele Miles. CCHS Fishing Club. Bailey Bleser and Matthew McDonald competed against 274 other High School teams at the BASS HS Southern Open on Lay Lake in Shelby, AL. The boys finished a very respectable 17 th place against some of the best High School anglers from across the country. There superior finish has qualified them for the BASS HS National Championships to be held on Kentucky Lake in Paris, TN the last week of July. Representing CCHS at the National BASS HS Championships is AMAZING! This is a gathering of the best High School Anglers in the US. To qualify, teams must finish in the top 10% at one of four BASS HS Opens held throughout the spring in TX, AL, SC and CA or- finish 1 st or 2 nd at their respective State Tournaments. Bailey and Matt will be among approximately 200 of the top teams in the US. WAY TO GO BAILEY & MATT!! Dear Hilltopper Fans and Supporters, I wanted to remind everyone that registration is now open for our 2018 Summer Basketball Camp. Online registration is up and running! Early Bird Registration ($85) runs through May 1. Girls Summer Basketball Camp June 25th - June 29th, 2018! The camp is for girls ages 7-14 as they work to improve their skills on and off the court. Our morning camp sessions will include daily stations to work on fundamentals, small sided games to develop and apply offensive and defensive strategies, individual contest, and 5 on 5 game play. Skill stations will include ball handling, defense and rebounding, footwork and offensive moves, and passing and offensive strategies. Players will be placed in small groups based on their age (7-9, 10-12, 13-14) in order to deliver age appropriate instruction. The $100 registration fee ($85 if registered by May 1, 2018) includes: a camp tee shirt, a camp report card, an individual skill packet, along with guest speakers. Our highly qualified staff will run each station, teach game concepts, and coach 5 on 5 games to help the young players advance in their basketball skills, prepare them for the seasons ahead, but most importantly HAVE FUN!
