CROSS COUNTRY & DISTRICT SWIMMING WELL DONE TO ALL COMPETITORS Dear Families, Lent For the early Church the time of Lent, being in the Northern Hemisphere, coincided with Spring. This is why many of our Easter symbols relate to new life, such as Easter eggs or the butterfly. We know that often during Spring it is a time to open up the house, clear out the dust and often we de-clutter our homes. Lent is the time for us to declutter our own lives and refresh our focus on God. Often we do not take the time to allow God into our lives. We rush between sporting events and after-school activities. Take the time to share the prayer below as a family and reflect on the questions afterwards. God of mercy and compassion As we enter this fourth week of Lent, encourage us in our efforts to live more simply, generously and prayerfully. Allow joy to enter our hearts that we may hear your word anew. Amen Thoughts to ponder: When I think about the world where is the light? When I think about the world where is the darkness? Is there anything in my life at the moment that preventing me from seeing the light of Christ? What does it mean for me that God so loved the world? What signs do I see around me of God s love? What could it mean for our world if we all took into our hearts God s great love? (prayer and reflection from ARCHBISHOP S OFFICE FOR EVANGELISATION, MELBOURNE) Project Compassion Each class has a Project Compassion box and the children are raising money to support the work of Caritas Australia. Caritas provides support to people all over the world, including Australia. Please support the children in their fundraising efforts this term.
