7 8 Proficiency Levels At Hanson School of Languages, we offer a total of 6 levels of language study. The first 5 levels correspond to English as a Second Language (ESL) which ranges from Starter to Upper Intermediate. Our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) level is our 6th and last level of language study. Students must score a minimum of 86 on our Placement Test in order to be eligible to join our EAP Program. Note: In order to provide real-world communication practice, every other Friday, students will have the opportunity to take part in out-of-classroom activities (Academic Excursions) alongside their instructor.
