DPS Newsletter Principal: Gary Quinn Edition No.: 19 24th November 2016 www.dalyellupps.wa.edu.au PRINCIPALS NEWS ROAD SAFETY The School community was given a timely reminder this week of the need for adults to exhibit extreme care at all times when driving around schools. An incident occurred involving a student on a bicycle and a car. Fortunately, the student was wearing a helmet and the car driver was driving at a very low speed. A potentially serious accident was avoided by the careful driving of the adult. I urge all parents to revise safe road behaviors with their children. Make sure that their bikes are roadworthy and that they are wearing a properly secured helmet every time they ride their bike. The advent of warmer weather is a good time for us to be more active however parents need to be aware of the risks that exist at this time of the year. ACCURATE CONTACT DETAILS The school has dealt with a number of incidents recently involving accidents or illness where we have been unable to contact an adult. It is vitally important, especially in emergency situations, that the school is able to quickly contact a caregiver. I ask all parents to contact the school office if your details (phone numbers, address etc) have changed. PERSONAL EQUIPMENT AT SCHOOLS Parents are reminded that children should not be bringing personal play equipment (sporting equipment, Pokemon cards, marbles etc) to school. The school has a variety of play options available for students to use over the course of the school day, with personal equipment risking being stolen or broken. Personal equipment found at school will be confiscated and returned to students at the end of the school day. Repeat offenders will have the property returned at the end of the school year. SCHOOL CLOSE START DATES 2017 The 2016 school year closes for students at the end o f the school day on Thursday 15th December. The school office will re-open for 2017 on Wednesday 25th January, be closed for Australia Day and re-open on Friday 27th January. Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st January are School Development Days. Children re-commence on Wednesday 1st February. 2017 CLASS LISTS Staff are currently constructing our 2017 classes. Where children will not be attending Dalyellup Primary in 2017, parents are requested to inform the office. 2017 Class Lists will be posted in the windows at the back of Block 6 (by the Basketball Courts), facing Hartog Road, on Saturday 17th December. Gary Quinn - Principal

New Uniforms 2017 There will be new Dalyellup Primary School Uniforms for 2017. Style samples are available in the uniform shop for you to review! Pre-orders can be placed now through the Uniform Shop (order forms available in the front office): Monday 2.30pm 3.45pm Thursday 8.00am-10.00am There are some sizes left of the current uniform available at reduced prices. The current uniform will of course be suitable to be worn alongside the new uniform next year. VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS We encourage all parents to pay any outstanding Voluntary Contributions as soon as possible. Events such as the HIP HOP that was held last term was partially funded by the Voluntary Contributions. This was a great learning opportunity for students and they thoroughly enjoyed the incursion!! NUT PRODUCTS Could all parents please avoid putting nut products in students recess or lunch boxes due to the amount of students we have at the school with allergies. For example: Nutella & Peanut Butter VOLUNTEERS MORNING TEA Mentors P&C Volunteers Fete Volunteers Classroom Volunteers etc Monday 12th December 10.30am in the Staff Room We invite everyone that has volunteered at our school at any point through out this year, to a morning tea to say a big Thank You to you all! It is also our AGM! 7PM IN THE SCHOOL STAFF ROOM It has been an awesome year and I hope we can end it with another fantastic Committee signed up for next year!! Being a part of our P&C brings not only friendships with other members, but a sense of worth to know you are doing your part and helping to make our school the best it can be for our kids! We know that some people think: I don't have a lot of time - we only have 2 meetings a term (2nd and 8th week on a Monday) I don't want a big role - we don't want you to commit to more than you are willing and there are small roles too We have approx 500 families at our school and we only average about 10 people at each meeting!
