Achievement This grade combines two results for students who took the state tests. The first result answers the question How many students passed the state test? The second result answers the question How well did students do on the state test? COMPONENT B Performance Index The Performance Index measures the test results of every student, not just those who score proficient or higher. There are six levels on the index and districts receive points for every student in each of these levels. The higher the achievement level the more the points awarded in the district's index. This rewards schools and districts for improving performance. 120 Performance Index Trend Performance Index 40 60 20 80 0 100 Achievement Level Advanced Plus Advanced Accelerated Proficient Basic Limited Untested Pct of Students Points for this Level 0.3 23.6 26.1 x x x 1.3 1.2 1.1 = = = 35.5 x 1.0 = 9.9 x 0.6 = 4.7 x 0.3 = 0.0 x 0.0 = Points Received 0.3 28.3 28.7 35.5 5.9 1.4 0.0 100.2 100 80 60 95.4 98.9 98.6 98.5 100.2 83.5% 100.2 of a possible 120.0 40 A = 90.0-10 B = 80.0-89.9% C = 70.0-79.9% D = 50.0-69.9% F = 0.0-49.9% 0.3 9.9 4.7 35.5 23.6 26.1 Advanced Plus Advanced Accelerated Proficient Limited Basic Untested 20 0 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 Untested Limited Basic Proficient Accelerated Advanced Advanced Plus Page 2 of 23

The program ensures that every struggling reader gets the support he or she needs to be able to learn and achieve. In kindergarten through grade three, schools will evaluate all children to determine if they are reading as well as they should be. If a child appears to be falling behind in reading, the school will immediately start a Improvement Plan.
