St Joseph s Primary School Murgon Term 3, Week 2, 21 st July, 2015 Dear Parents and Caregivers, If you know of any families with a Prep age child for next year, can you please inform them that we are welcoming enrolments now. We welcome back all the children, parents and staff for a busy Term 3 here at St Joseph s. It is hard to believe that we are into the second half of the year. I hope you all enjoyed the winter break and had some time to reconnect with your families. I also hope you were able to stay warm in the last couple of weeks. This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great things that take place in Catholic schools every day. The theme for this year s celebrations is: Engaging Minds. Igniting Hearts. Serving Others. Catholic education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society. During Catholic Education Week 2015, Catholic education communities across Queensland are invited to celebrate and share how they are Engaging Minds. Igniting Hearts. Serving Others. There are 299 Catholic schools in Queensland educating around 147,000 students and employing almost 18,000 teachers and staff, and most will celebrate Catholic Education Week in some way. I thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to seeing you during Catholic Education Week 2015. Staffing This term we welcome Karen Pickford back after 6 months Long Service Leave. Karen will return in a Co-Teaching role, 3 days a week. She will be working within classes to support teachers, especially in the areas of Mathematics and Literacy. This is a great opportunity for the children at St Joseph s to have two teachers working within classrooms. We wish Niketa Law all the best as she takes up her new role as Full Time Indigenous Teacher Aide at Saint Mary s. Niketa will be finishing at St Joseph s next Monday. We wish Niketa all the best in her new role and thank her for her contribution towards the education of children at St Joseph s. This term Debbie Barry will be taking Long Service Leave from 24 August until 9 October as she has a well-earned break with her husband Michael. I too, will be on Long Service leave from 31 August until 9 October. The community will be informed of the replacements for both Debbie and myself in the coming weeks. Condolences Last week I received word that Paul Burnett, staff member from 2013, passed away. Paul worked as Guidance Counsellor at St Joseph's and had a big influence on both staff and children in the 6 months he was in Murgon. Please also keep Victor Alberts and his family in your prayers. Victor s mother passed away before the school holidays. May they rest in Peace. GregC ran Principal
