Sep. 2009 May 2013 Honors Thesis: Household Burial and Community Organization at Çatalhöyük, Turkey This independent research project related location of burials within houses to changes in community organization at the Neolithic site of Çatalhöyük, Turkey. Data analysis strongly suggested households became less autonomous as time passed, challenging the previous model of increased autonomy over time. Advised by Lisa Young and Henry Wright Received Honors Student Research Poster Award for research design and poster presentation RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Massachusetts Institute of Technology - AgeLab Cambridge, MA Research Specialist June 2015 Present I lead a series of studies examining the myriad factors that affect driver understanding, use, and adoption of in-vehicle technologies. Analyses have brought to light the importance of driver training and education in the context of growing availability of semi-autonomous features, the effects that branding and terminology have on drivers expectations for systems, the importance of examining system-based and component-specific trust when studying use of advanced vehicle technologies, and the need to design systems that effectively communicate with drivers with various backgrounds. Lead qualitative research for Advanced Vehicle Technologies consortium Interview participants in Field Operational Trials and lead interview analyses Design, deploy, and analyze surveys exploring topics related to semi-autonomous driving features Create data visualizations Regularly present study findings to consortium members & academic community Technical Associate Oct. 2014 June 2015 Analysis of subject attendance, data validity after participation, and study run time allowed for more accurate estimations for project durations, in turn creating higher accuracy deadlines. Managed recruitment & scheduling for research participants Coordinated 1,000 research participant appointments in 2015 Ran subjects through study protocols for simulator, computer based, and other research studies
New Berlin Heritage Center Sep. 2013 Jan. 2014 Exhibit Designer New Berlin, WI This independent research project examined the effects that rail industry had for the local community of New Berlin, Wisconsin. The exhibit designed around this research educated visitors on the reason for rail travel in their community, the spike of activity it brought to the town, and the history of the old buildings residing outside of town. Conducted independent research on topic related to local community Designed interactive exhibit using SketchUp Wrote and submitted exhibit design proposal and budget Built exhibit OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE Quad/Graphics Milwaukee, WI / Leominster, MA Customer Service Representative / Human Resources July 2013 Oct. 2014 Managed accounts Arranged and managed advertisement strategies for job postings Coordinated interview, pre-employment, and onboarding processes for candidates and all new hires Assisted in 6-month team research project examining hiring practices and retention rates of 80 nationwide production facilities Michigan League Catering Supervisor Nov. 2011 Mar. 2013 Worked 30+ hrs/week managing catering staff for large- and small-scale events Server Oct. 2009 Nov. 2011 Worked 30+ hrs/week preparing events and serving guests in a fine-dining setting Dow Chemical Company Midland, MI Administrative Assistant June Aug. 2010 Developed process for acquisition and organization of 60,000 Rohm & Haas personnel files Developed work process to provide inventory of boxes received/delivered and of files in each box to ensure no loss of records Input newly organized files into computer system so data could be efficiently retrieved Trained two employees on filing and sorting processes and procedures PUBLICATIONS Journal Articles Abraham, H., McAnulty, H., Mehler, B., & Reimer, B.
