11 INTRO TO Q. 21: The main feature of the bond proposal placed before the voters last February was the addition of 20 classrooms as a separate wing at the high school, specifically designed for use by sixth through eighth grade students, replacing the existing middle school facility which would be closed. There were also a number of other major features contained in the proposal. Putting aside whether you voted YES or NO on the proposal last February or how you feel about any future bond proposal, I would like to describe some of the specific features of the bond proposal that the voters rejected last February, and for each one, ask if you support or oppose that particular feature. Build a new parking lot and driveway at the new middle school and high school campus to provide the parking spaces needed to accommodate the increased traffic. The cost of this improvement is 1.5 million dollars. With an eye toward making more use of school facilities in the summer months, air conditioning systems would be installed at Bentley, Central, Bryant, Emerson, and Washington schools, as well as the new middle and high school campus. The cost of installing air conditioning is 5.5 million dollars. Upgrading technology systems in all schools, including purchasing new computers and other interactive classroom learning technology and phone systems in all schools at a cost of 2 million dollars. Purchasing four new buses to replace the oldest vehicles in the existing fleet, at a cost of 400 thousand dollars. Replacing fire alarm and exit systems, and enhancing the security systems of all schools at a cost of 500 thousand dollars.
