SHSG WEEKLY GAZETTE website: www.shsg.org Edition No: 12, 5 th December 2016 email: office@shsg.org The train times on the C2C line are changing from January 9 th ; There are two relevant changes: o There will no longer be a train arriving at Southend East at 07.38. C2C recommends anyone who normally takes this train transfers to the 07.33 or 07.45 arrival o There will no longer be a train arriving at Southend East at 08.13. C2C recommends anyone who normally takes this train transfers to the 08.17 arrival This service is a lot less busy than the alternative option, which is the 07.59 arrival That train is likely to be standing room only, which would mean a much more uncomfortable journey for students Most other trains are unchanged in the new timetable Please can I encourage any parents who think their daughters may be entitled to free school meals to apply. Through cashless catering and ParentPay no-one knows who is on free school meals or not, so any stigma has disappeared. Also we get additional funding for FSM students which we use specifically for them, thus they will get various activities and resources for free. If you wish to apply please contact klacey@shsg.org. Ms Lacey will treat all applications in the strictest confidence. Last year we started a new tradition of carol singing in the local area. This year we will be near Thorpe Bay station (on the north side) on December 16 th around 4pm for an hour or so raising money for charity. Thank you to Ms Ryan for organising this on top of two concerts, a carol service and our end of term assembly music. Ms Brierley, Head Teacher
