Just as the teachers and staff have been preparing for the students to arrive, the PTA has been busy planning fun, educational events and programs for this year. We know how hectic the start of the school year can be! This PTA Welcome Packet is intended to be a resource for you as we all get started. LEARNING! Walk-a-thon (WAT) is our biggest PTA fundraiser of the year. Last fall, our school raised over $ DOUBLE YOUR MONEY! Your company just might match your donation to our PTA! Many companies offer corporate matching to non-profits like us. It s as easy as filling out a form found on your company s intranet. Your employer works directly with the PTA to verify and provide funds! Local matching companies include: Microsoft Boeing Expedia Nintendo T-Mobile Google Starbucks Costco Some companies like Microsoft even match employee donations of time in addition to money! North Bend Elementary PTA Presents Art Enrichment 2017-2018 NBE PTA is excited to continue our sponsorship of Art Enrichment for all grades with art provider Museo Art Academy. The PTA believes that art is a necessity, providing students with an opportunity to explore their critical thinking and problem solving skills in a creative and imaginative way. In order for each class to be a success, we need your help! We are asking for a donation of $10 per student to help cover the cost of supplies. Additionally, each classroom will need volunteers to help the art class run smoothly. Please visit www.nbepta.com and click on VOLUNTEER to sign up at SignUp.com. Training provided! NBE PTA Volunteer Opportunities 2017-18 Art Walk & Auction: This exciting event provides an opportunity for the kids of NBE to show off and celebrate their artistic creations of all mediums. Volunteers are needed for all phases of the event including: collection of art, matting, and final display, decoration of hallways and cleanup, and procurement/gathering of Auction items. April 26, 2018 Art Class Helper: Help kids experience hands on art! Assist our professional art teacher in the art classes provided by the PTA. At least 2 volunteers are needed in each class. Bingo Night: Help organize, procure fun prizes, set up tables, and clean up. This is one of the students favorite events of the year. March 22, 2018 Book Fair: Volunteers are needed to work during the event to assist students, ring up sales and re-stock books. Time slots are available between the hours of 9am 3pm daily and the evening of Family Night, plus 2 morning events (8-9am). January 26-February 1, 2018 Box Tops: Volunteers are needed to gather, count, and cut labels throughout the year. Each classroom needs a designated contact. Dads at Recess: Enjoy a fun filled recess and lunch with your child! All NBE community men are welcome dads, grandpas, guardians, uncles etc All participants need to complete the volunteer background check to participate, 3 rd Friday of each month Field Day: Field day is an exciting event where kids get to have fun and celebrate the end of the school year. Volunteers are needed to run activities, set up and clean up. June 7, 2018 Grant Writing and Research: Assist in all phases of the grant writing process, from researching and data gathering to writing and submission. Great job to do at home. Health Screenings: Assist the professionals with hearing/vision health screening for all students. No medical experience is needed. October 18-19, 2017

Panther Trail: 1 st -5 th graders earn necklace tokens for walking or jogging a track near the school playground. Parents sign up for a fun shift marking laps and handing out lap cards for this bi-weekly activity! Tuesday/Thursday lunchtime recess, fall & spring STEAM-Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math Night: Help us plan and organize this very popular event. Help is also needed the day of setting up and running stations with STEAM activities. January 18, 2018 Spooky Reading Night: A reading themed night to inspire and entertain our students by sharing spooky (and not so spooky) stories. Help coordinate and run an evening of readings by teachers, parents and local community members. October 26, 2017 Teacher/Staff Appreciation: Volunteers are needed every month to provide food, beverage, gifts and supplies for staff appreciation activities. Easy to do at home on your own schedule and bring to school the day of the event. Run Snoqualmie Turkey Trot: Fun Run on Snoqualmie Ridge, 1K for kids and a 5K race. Volunteers needed to help on the course and other activities that morning. November 11, 2017 Walk-A-Thon: The Walk-a-Thon is the main fundraising event for the PTA. Many volunteers are needed for set up, clean up and managing the field course (counting laps, supervising the field and popsicle hand-out) on the day of the event. October 12, 2017 Yearbook: Take photos at various classroom and school-wide events during the year. Provide to the Yearbook Editor at the end of March. Over $56,000 was given back to NBE during the 2016-17 school year! This is in addition to another $8,000 in scholastic Book Fair credit that goes to the school library as well as classroom libraries. $16,000 Art Program for All students $10,000 Chrome Books and Carts $9,000 Teacher Applied for Grants $2,650 Accelerated Reader Software Program $6,400 $200/teacher plus classroom supplies $3,000 Field Trip Transportation ($500 per grade) $2,000 Advanced Math Course for 5th Grade $2,000 Library Cash Spending $1,800 School-wide Assemblies $500 Project Lead the Way Supplies $2,650 Other Assorted Spending 5th grade scholarships, wiggle seats, bouncy bands, year books for select 5th graders, Panther Trail, workroom supplies, etc. NBE PTA Fundraised over $52,000 this school year Organized and staffed 13 big events for NBE staff and Families WAT, Movie nights, Spooky reading night, Gingerbread Night, STEAM Night, Book Fair, BINGO Night, Art Walk and Silent Auction, Field Day Sponsored Dads @ recess, School Toolbox, and Spirit Wear Prepared 9 meals and 3 snacks days for NBE staff Provided roughly 33 hours of Panther Trail to students And much, much more!
