Tutorial Request Forms will be completed for homework. AVID students are required to submit a TRF twice per week. TRFs need to be meaningful and relevant to the subject in which they are most challenged.
GRADING: Class Work 30% Students will be required to submit work begun in class by the beginning of the next class in order to receive full credit. Assignments may be submitted via email or in person. Tutorials 30% Students are required to generate two higher level questions to which they need the answer. These questions are based on their notes, class lectures, and homework and should help them on future tests. Tutorials will be collected at the beginning of each class. (Tutorials are not required on Fridays.) Students who come to class without completed tutorials will be expected to generate these questions within the first ten minutes of class; however 30 points will be deducted from their grade. At the end of class, students may keep their notes, but must submit their tutorials with the summary and reflection portions completed. Homework/Binders 20% All homework assignments are due on Fridays. Homework submitted before that day will receive an extra five points. Assignments may be submitted via email or in person. Employability 20% This refers to skills and tasks that a person needs in order to be a good employee. They are not gradable skills. Examples included but are not limited to: being present, being on time to class, submitting assignments in on time, participating in class and helping others as well as exhibiting good citizenship behavior among other things. (Unexcused absences are not employable skills; students are urged to bring in a note when they are absent.)
