QUALIFYING FOR A WANDO HIGH SCHOOL ADVANCED STUDIES DIPLOMA To earn a Wando Advanced Studies Diploma conferred at graduation, candidates must meet or exceed the following criteria by the end of their twelfth grade year: WANDO HIGH SCHOOL ADVANCED STUDIES DIPLOMA Complete all graduation requirements as specified by the district and state Complete at least six AP classes with a cumulative numerical average of 85 or higher Perform 10 hours of community service each year a student is a member of the AP Academy Earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 4.0 as determined by the South Carolina Weighted Grading Scale Adhere to the AP Academy Honor Code WANDO HIGH SCHOOL ADVANCED STUDIES DIPLOMA WITH DISTINCTION Meet all requirements for Advanced Studies Diploma Complete at least seven AP classes with a cumulative numerical average of 85 or higher WANDO HIGH SCHOOL ADVANCED STUDIES DIPLOMA WITH HIGHEST DISTINCTION Meet all requirements for Advanced Studies Diploma Complete at least nine AP classes with a cumulative numerical average of 85 or higher
PATHWAYS TO AN ADVANCED STUDIES DIPLOMA By the end of their ninth grade year, students who seek an appointment to the Wando AP Academy must: Submit application packet Earn a 4.0 weighted cumulative GPA as determined by the South Carolina Weighted Grading Scale Note: AP courses may be added/deleted based on enrollment patterns. STEM Pathway This pathway is suggested for those students whose talents or interests are in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. AP Academy Acceptance Letters Mailed Out... September 26, 2014 Candidates will be notified via US Mail. AP Summer Institutes. TBA 2015 AP Summer Institutes is for all accepted Wando AP Academy students. Various seminars will be held to help acclimate students to Advanced Placement Courses before the school year begins and assist students with the college application process. AP Academy Welcome Night... October 29, 2014 All new AP Academy students and parents are invited to attend the AP Academy induction ceremony. AP Night..... February 2015 An AP Academy curriculum fair for prospective students and parents will be held on a date to be determined in February. AP teachers will be stationed along Wando s Main Hallway to answer questions about their courses and help students with course selections for the 2015-2016 school year. Teachers will be available 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
