SLINFOLD CE PRIMARY SCHOOL AND PRE-SCHOOL Caring, Learning, Achieving guided by God H E A D T E A C H E R : Miss Laura Phibbs, BA(Hons), PGCE, NPQH Dear Parents and Carers, Friday 27 th January 2017 We welcomed back this week Brighton and Hove City Mission to perform their Bible in a flash which took the children on a journey of all the books (66 in total!) in the bible. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the stories many of which are already familiar to them and also enjoyed taking part. Thank you to the team and we hope to welcome them back soon.

Our Achievement Awards this week go to: Hamble Oliver H and Eira G Medway Chloe V and Betsy B Arun Evan Y and Olivia S Adur Bethany C and Henry C Rother Scarlett B and Tyler M The Quiz Night is back! Back by popular demand is the PTA s infamous Quiz Night to be held in the school hall on Friday 31st March at 7.30pm run by the brilliant duo, Mr and Mrs Hayers. This is a truly fun and sociable event. You can come on your own or make up a table. Many people bring hampers of food and wine to consume and make a real night of it. There are also brilliant prizes on offer for best dressed table and most original quiz table name. In the past we have seen some fabulous table cloths and decorations to make the school lunch tables rather more inviting to sit at. Tickets to be on sale shortly for 5 per person. The question remains: will you make up the team that will beat the teachers? Again? This is truly an event not to be missed. Talented Athletes @The Weald On Wednesday some of us from year 5 and 6: Ryan, Bailey, Thomas W, Monty, Freddie, Oscar, Archie, Sonny, Declan, Finley and Monty Pitts spent the afternoon at the Weald School to take part in the Talented Athletes afternoon. We took part in many sporting activities such as rugby, hockey, football, netball, orienteering and athletics. Most of us chose rugby and football. We played some matches and had fun. We learned a bit about the rules of rugby such as ruck and scrum. We practised rucking and even managed to knock down a teacher! By Bailey and Ryan. Dates for your diaries World Book Day Thursday 2 nd March Do something booky! And dress up as your favourite book character on the day. More details to follow.

Red Nose Day Friday 24 th March Wear red for the day for 1 We will of course be selling the noses. Details to follow later. Vacancies. Staff Vacancies The Pre-School currently have 2 vacancies for a pre-school assistant and a deputy supervisor. If you are interested in either of these positions please contact the office as the hours vary and the jobs are at different levels. You can also access further information on the West Sussex website in the job section or the school website under Latest https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/jobs/school-jobs/ Midday Meal Supervisor We are still desperately seeking someone to be part of our Midday Meal Team. If you know anyone that can spare some hours at lunchtimes not necessarily for the whole week, possibly 2 or 3 days, we would love to hear from you. The role involves not only serving lunches but also being part of the team to engage the children in play along with our play leaders. The role may also in the future be able to offer some further hours in the form of a learning support assistant in one of our classes. If you are interested, please let the office know. Thank you. Slinfold cake raffle Thank you to Millie and Thomas Savage for donating the delicious brownies this week for the raffle. The winner was Leon Holzberger. Community Dinner Dance Don t forget if you like dancing then the Dinner Dance Slinfold Community event on 11 th March from 7pm at Slinfold Golf Club is the one for you. This is a community event and some of the money raised will go towards raising funds for our separate pot of money to help replace our classrooms. This is not a PTA run event but a community event that Tracy Voller and Chantelle Harvey have organised. Please can I assure you that all our usual events such as the quiz night, (Yes it s back.friday 31 st March) the Summer fair, the Easter Egg and cake raffles etc will continue to support all the cherries on the cake as normal for the children that are currently in school.
