My name is Fr. Remi Hebert. I am the pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Grande Prairie and the school chaplain to a number of the Catholic schools in the city. I love to spend time in the schools as it keeps me aware of the things that are in the heart of students and teachers and other staff. I was born and raised in Edmonton and have lived in many places in Canada as an adult. I studied in Toronto in preparation to be a priest. As a priest I have lived in Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Sudbury, Ontario. I was first in Grande Prairie 23 years ago just after I was ordained. In my leisure time I like to play squash and get exercise at Eastlink Centre. Before I became a priest I was a professional photographer so I also like to take photos at all the parish events. An important value for me is to stay in touch with family and the many people across Canada who are part of my life. It is family, friends and faith that gives meaning and hope to my life so I am very thankful for the many people that God has put in my life. One of the great gifts of being a priest is that I am part of people s lives at very personal and tender moments. It is a privilege to gather with a family as someone they love is very sick. It is a joy to celebrate big events like baptisms and weddings with families. R. Hebert, C.Ss.R.
