College Diploma Graduation Requirements English 4 Units Must be I, II, III, and IV Mathematics 4 Units Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, 4 th Math Science 4 Units Biology, Chemistry, 3 rd and 4 th Science Social Studies 4 Units Civics, American History, 3 rd and 4 th History Physical Education 1½ Units Can substitute ROTC I and II Health ½ Unit Foreign Language 2 Units Two years in the same language Art Elective 1 Unit Fine Art Survey, Art, Music, or Drama Electives 3 Units 24 Units
College Diploma vs. Jumpstart Diploma After sophomore year, students have the opportunity to change from the College Diploma curriculum to the Jumpstart Diploma curriculum. Both curriculums earn a standard diploma; the difference is the coursework taken. College Diploma prepares students for entry into a 4-year college or university Jumpstart Diploma prepares students for community college, technical college, other training, and employment. Requires approval by parents, student, and school.
TOPS TOPS is a comprehensive program of state scholarships and one of the most innovative and progressive student assistance programs in the nation. TOPS is a student assistance program that offers a variety of financial assistance or scholarship awards to high school students of Louisiana. TOPS has three award components: Opportunity Performance Honors
TOPS Requirements English 4 Units English I, II, III and English IV Mathematics 4 Units Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and 1 from Advanced Math, Probability & Statistics or Calculus Science 4 Units Biology, Chemistry, and 2 from Environmental Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology II (AP), Chemistry II (AP), Physics, Physics (AP), Anatomy & Physiology, or Agriscience II Social Studies - 4 Units American History, Civics, World Geography, and World History Art - 1 Unit Fine art survey, Art, Music, Theatre, Dance Foreign Language - 2 Units Two units in the same language 19 Total Core Curriculum Units 2.5 Core GPA ACT Score: 20 3.0 Core GPA ACT Score: 23, 27

End-of-course exam You must take all and pass 3 of the following EOC courses to graduate from High School Algebra I or Geometry English II or English III Biology or US History
ACT www.actstudent.org Required for 4 year colleges and universities Cost $39.50 Offered up to six times a year ACT recommends students to take the ACT test during their junior year Minimum Requirement for most colleges ACT 20 Fee waivers are available to students who receive free/reduced lunch See Counselor
ACT Prep Zachary High School ACT test prep classes. Zachary High ACT Saturday Test Prep Sessions. 4 Saturdays leading up to actual ACT Test. $10 per Saturday. 1 Test Subject per Saturday. ACT Bell Ringers http://www.actstudent.org/testprep/
Registration Information Course selections should be driven by the student s career interest and postsecondary plans. Course Offerings (handout) go over the form with the student so he/she is prepared for schedule request. Current 9 th graders February 11 th 12 th Current 10 th graders February 15 th 18 th Current 11 th graders February 22 nd 23 rd After scheduling, your student will come home with a Course Request form. Please make any changes, sign and return the form to school.

Spring Credit Recovery The Spring credit recovery session will take place February 29 th -March 24 th at ZHS. Students will meet Monday-Thursday from 2:30-4:30. There is a $50.00 registration fee for each course taken during the credit recovery session. Students may take one course at a time. There is no limit to the amount of courses taken during the session. Completed application and payment are due to ZHS front office by 3:00 pm on February 26 th.
