2 Congratulation to Ms Erin, Younes and Leila on the safe arrival of their daughter and baby sister Aisha Born on the 22nd February 2016 weighing in at 3.88kg Both mum and baby doing well CARLTON & DISTRICTS TENNIS COMPETITION Brian in LA 3, represented St. Michael's in the Carlton& District Tennis Primary School Competition on Friday, 19th of February. The event was held at the Clifton Hill Tennis Club. Nine boys and 10 girls participated in separate events. The boys' competition was a Round-Robin, giving each boy the opportunity to play against each of the other boys. The format of a match was 2 games, with no deuce, which put lots of pressure on players, living little room for error (and come backs). Brian played well and focused, and won all of his matches, without dropping a game. Brian came first overall, with 16 points, and together with the second placed boy, qualified for the Division Tennis Competition to be held at Banyule Tennis Club on Friday 26th of February.

5 St. Michael s Primary School OSHP Our services offer a range of supervised, age appropriate activities in a safe environment for children to have fun, learn, play and make new friends every day. Before School Care in school hall: 7.00am-8.30am. After School Care in OSHP room: 3.30pm-6.00pm (Monday to Friday) except on Wednesday: 3.00pm-6.00pm. Please remember that the area directly in front of the school in Brougham Street is a drop off zone at the beginning and end of the school day. It is not ok to park your car and come into the school. if you are parking in this area you may receive a parking fine as officers are always patrolling the area. CANTEEN REMINDER The canteen is open every Monday. Order forms are available from the office or classroom teacher. For those who would like to volunteer please contact Susan Mooney on 0438 328 210. 6 Children have great fun playing chess! Chess is a wonderful game which enhances skills such as: Problem Solving, Pattern Recognition, Analytical, Visualisation, Concentration and Social Skills. Term One chess classes will commence on Monday 22 nd February with tuition provided by Dark Horse Chess. Players of all ages and levels are welcome, and prior experience with chess is not necessary. Certificates will be awarded to all players, and trophies will be awarded to the tournament winners. Class Times: Monday lunch time in Ms Susan s aftercare room Class Dates: 22/02, 29/03, 07/03, 14/03, 21/03 Price: $9.00 per lesson 5 lessons = total cost of $45.00. 8 School hours are: 8.30am (Gates open) supervision in the yard 9am School day begins 3.30pm 3.45pm supervision in the yard. All children who arrive earlier than 8:30am will be sent to before care and children who have not been collected at 3:45pm will be sent to aftercare (Fees apply).
