Mrs Tozer would like donations of brightly coloured paint please (anything that would be suitable to use for a wall mural). Please drop any donations to the School Office. As part of our school assemblies and PSHE/Computing curriculum, we cover a number of internet and E-safety topics which teach the children about how best to use online resources. Over the last few months, we have noticed an increase in incidents of children at The Grove communicating inappropriately online which have had an impact of friendships and dynamics within some classes. Therefore, I have placed some links below to websites that offer helpful resources on how best to support your child at home with their online activities, including how best to communicate. I hope that you will find these links helpful and would encourage you to contact your child s class teacher if you have any further queries https://ceop.police.uk/safety-centre/ https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-centre/parents-and-carers Following on from this, you will have by now received the NSPCC information letter which was sent to the whole school earlier this week. We are looking forward to welcoming you into school at 9am on Tuesday 6th June for the NSPCC Speak Out. Stay Safe. Parent Briefing. It was lovely to see so many parents at Laurel s class assembly earlier today. It is a great reward for the children to be able to show off the results of their hard work to you and we hope you enjoyed it as much as they did! Please check our Diary Dates overleaf as there are several new dates which have now been published. These include our Year 6 performance dates for next term and our Celebration Day, with the opportunity to come in and view the children s work and success during the academic year. This will be followed by an optional Parents Evening and your child will receive their end of year report before this date. Please don t forget to come along to the POTs which is taking place tomorrow in school from 2pm until 4pm, we hope that many of you are able to come along and support this fantastic fundraiser! Mrs Kate Wilkins Headteacher Tomorrow! Saturday 20th May 2pm-4pm Year 6 After School Maths Booster sessions with Mrs Caillou have now ended.

Year 6 Parents / Carers - Please remember to order your Leavers Hoodies via the online shop by 9th June. http://wav.ee/grovehoodies17 Year 4 Maths Booster sessions, which take place after school on a Thursday, (with Miss Denmeade) will now be continuing throughout Term 6, from Thursday 8 th June onwards. Sun Safety! With the weather now warming up... Please click here to view our Sun Safety Policy. The Grove Sports Day 2017 Tuesday 11th July There will be no hot dinners available on Sports Day. If your child usually receives a hot school meal from the kitchen, he or she will automatically receive a picnic lunch. This is the same price as a hot school meal (where applicable). Friday 16 th June Sycamore Class assembly 9am. All parents, carers and families of the children in Sycamore Class are welcome to come along. Messages From the School Office Please ensure all school meal balances are cleared by Friday 26th May. Monies owed cannot be carried forward to Term 6. After the Half Term break the School Menu will be GREEN WEEK! From information gathered earlier in the year in our Home - School Communication Questionnaire we know that parents really value our weekly newsletter. Therefore if you know of any parents or carers who are not receiving our weekly School Newsletter by email please spread the word! These parents are missing out on lots of vital school information. Just pop to the office and provide an email address to start receiving them each Friday. Alternatively, a small amount of paper copies are always readily available from the office at the start of the school week. Please be aware that when paying by cash, we are unable to provide change. Please ensure the correct money is provided. Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Jones, Mrs James & Mrs Hayward (Admin Team)

The Grove Farm Project The Grove farm is going from strength to strength! The potatoes are growing well and our chicks, hatched in Reception before Easter, will be coming back to The Grove as soon as their run is built - within the next few weeks. We are also anticipating the arrival of two guinea pigs that will also need food and water twice a day. If you would like to help us, we are putting together a list of families who would like to care for the chickens and / or water our potatoes on weekends. We are also looking for families that would like to help take care of the potatoes during half term (Saturday May 27th until Sunday June 4th) and the chickens over the 6 week summer holiday. The care involves: Watering the 7 allotment beds once a day. Letting the chickens out from their coop into the run in the morning and closing them back into their coop in the evening. Feeding them morning and evening Providing fresh water morning and evening Checking nest boxes for any eggs once they start laying Any eggs you find, you can take home to enjoy as a small thank you for helping care for them. If you could do this and want to get involved, speak to your child s class teacher or ask for a letter at the office. Once we have received replies from all those interested, we will make a final schedule confirming which dates you are scheduled for. With many, many thanks from the farm team, Mrs Kile and Mr Eggers
