Gwen Hansen-Vigil Principal Eaglecrest High School 5100 S. Picadilly St. Centennial, CO 80015 720.886.1011 720.886.1029 FAX ghansen-vigil@cherrycreekschools.org July 1, 2015 Dear Raptor Families, While I hope this letter finds you enjoying the summer season, we continue to prepare for the 2015-2016 school year. Enclosed is information that will allow us to team together to provide your child with an outstanding educational experience. Please note that most of our check-in information and forms are being provided through the district website http://my.cherrycreekschools.org. Thank you for taking the time to review the material with your child and for providing the necessary information electronically. Eaglecrest is committed to being an exemplary learning community focused on preparing each and every student for college success. As such, high academic achievement and school safety will continue to be our primary areas of focus. Our teachers, counselors, deans, mental health professionals, and student achievement services personnel work in conjunction with administration to create a positive, productive, and respectful school climate. Eaglecrest High School has outstanding programs in athletics and activities allowing students to compete, perform, and excel. Our students discover that a well-rounded program of study, including a balance of challenging academic coursework and participation in extra-curricular activities, gives them the best opportunity for preparation for life beyond high school. We continuously review our comprehensive safety plan to insure a safe, productive, academic environment whereby students are expected to spend the academic day engaged in highly academic endeavors. Because of security and supervision limitations, students are not to be in the school building before 6:30 a.m. and students who are not involved in a supervised activity after the end of the school day are required to leave campus by 3:00 p.m. Please take the time prior to the start of school to coordinate your family s schedule and transportation plans to adhere to these time constraints. As a reminder our Raptors Rest, Relax, and Read Program requires ALL Eaglecrest students to read over the summer. The list of books and associated assignments were given to students at the end of the school year. This information can also be found on the EHS website http://eaglecrest.cherrycreekschools.org as a reference or if you are new to our community. I invite you to stop by and introduce yourself. Our faculty and staff look forward to meeting you and working with every student and parent to make this their best year ever at Eaglecrest High School. Sincerely, Gwen Hansen-Vigil Principal

Eaglecrest Check-In 2015 WHY YOU SHOULD PAY YOR ACTIVITY FEE? Why should you pay your Activity Fee? That is a good question because most parents and students don t really know where that 30 goes. The money is divided among Athletics, Activities, and PTO. Some of the benefits of the Activity Fee are: All regular season Home Athletic Events are FREE with a paid Activity Fee. Homecoming, Prom, and After Prom are supported by the Activity Fee. Prices are discounted for each event with a paid Activity Fee. The following list shows how the part used for Activities is spent. In some cases the money is the sole form of funding for a particular activity. In other cases it is a supplement that reduces the cost of a product or event for students. The following activities are funded by the Activity Fee: Anime Club Art Club AVE Brotherhood Chamber Orchestra & Mariachi Band Color Guard Creative Writing Club Chess Club DECA Dodgeball Club Drama Club EATEnvironmental Action Team EHS Book Club FBLA FCCLA French Club Hip Hop Gallifrey Club Game On GSA Guitar Club Improv International Thespian Society Jazz Band Key Club Latin Club Latino Unidas LINK Crew Literary Magazine Marching Band National Art Honor Society National English Honor Society National French Honor Society National Honor Society National Japanese Honor Society National Science Honor Society National Spanish Honor Society Newspaper Outdoor Adventure Club Peer Buddies Ping Pong Club Programming Club Raptor Skate Team Robotics Sisterhood Speech & Debate Student Leadership Super Crew Travel Club Yearbook YEH Youth Ending Hunger You should pay your Activity Fee because it supports the activities listed above and because the activities listed impact YOU and YOUR STUDENT!

Eaglecrest Check-In 2015 A Message from the Counseling Department Each year, a great deal of thought, time, energy, and money is involved in creating student schedules. Last February, students were provided with information and counsel regarding course selection. Course requests were determined after conversations with teachers, parents and counselors. In April, teachers and counselors reviewed the courses each student chose. In May, student requests were sent home for approval by parents. At this time, students were provided a final opportunity to request a different course. Throughout the summer, Eaglecrest s Registrar and Eaglecrest Counselors have spent time rechecking student schedules and making final adjustments when needed. Each of these steps was taken to ensure that every student is placed in appropriately challenging coursework. Additionally, changing the master schedule as the school year begins is cost prohibitive. Therefore, schedule changes in August will not be permitted. Upon receiving his or her schedule, if a student believes it is in need of repair for one of the reasons listed below, the student will be asked to email his/her counselor, identifying this need. This information will be considered by the student s counselor who will communicate with the student regarding any adjustments that need to be made to the student s schedule. It is the philosophy and belief of the faculty and administration of Eaglecrest High School that students may be scheduled into classes during all four periods of both A Days and B Days. Please do not request a particular resource period. Counselors will finalize schedules to make sure student have their appropriate core and graduation requirements and they will be distributed during check-in. Reasons for needing a schedule repair: An incomplete schedule resulting from the closure of a course. A schedule that does not include a sufficient number of credits (freshmen must take 8,sophomores must take seven credits, juniors six credits, and seniors five credits). A schedule that does not include four core classes (classes (4 academic classesor 3 AP courses) A schedule that places a student in the wrong level of course (e.g. a student who has not yet completed Spanish 1 is placed in Spanish 2) A schedule that does not include courses needed to meet graduation requirements. (Seniors only)
