Free me from any temptation to judge others, to place myself above others. Please let me surrender even my impatience with others, that with your love and your grace, I might be less and less absorbed with myself, and more and more full of the desire to follow you, in laying down my life according to your example. Amen Dear Parents and students, I would like to thank all those parents who found the time to meet with their child/children s class teacher this week for the parent teacher interviews. I understand that you are all very busy but it was great to see so many parents here over the last three days. A special thank you to the teachers as well, for all their preparation for these interviews. There will be another opportunity for you to meet with the teachers in Week 9 of Term 2.

Catholic Schools Week Next week we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. It s a great opportunity for you to visit your child/children s class to see them during an EMU style Maths lesson, to come and hear the band and choir or see the Dance Troupe. We also have an Open Morning on Tuesday 10 th March for anyone who would like to enrol in Kindergarten (or other grades) for 2016. There s an opportunity for a cuppa and chat for our Kindergarten parents and an invitation went home for our Parent Session on Monday 9 th March at 5.30pm for Maths in the classroom today. Enrolments Please be advised that 2016 enrolments for Kindergarten will commence from Tuesday 10 th March. Enrolment packages will be available from this date. Please return the enrolment application by 24 th April together with your non-refundable $70 pre-enrolment fee. This fee goes towards the costs of having our 5 week Kindergarten Transition Program. Parents approaching other students in the playground As discussed at our Volunteers Workshop earlier this term, it is not appropriate for a parent to approach another child over an incident that may have occurred at school. If your child informs you that something has happened, please contact the class teacher so that this can be investigated. Approaching another student is very intimidating for that student and can also be seen as bullying. Staff Development Day (Pupil Free) Friday 13th March 2015 Driver Safety In NSW the Police and school Principals are appealing to motorists and parents to refrain from dangerous driving behaviour in and around schools. In just the first four days of this school year, there has been a 17% increase in the number of motorists caught speeding and a 24% rise in illegal parking infringements issued in school zones. Last Wednesday Police launched Operation Compliance, targeting mobile phone use and speeding in school zones and school crossing offences. Principals are urging parents through newsletters and school communications to slow down and stop breaking the law. REC News (Narelle Cartwright) The Season of Lent The three practices of Lent are; Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. Prayer: The children in class have been praying and learning how they can draw closer to God during Lent in preparation for Easter. We also encourage you to pray regularly as a family during this time of Lent. Fasting: Many children have chosen to give up a favourite game or food treat for the duration of Lent as they begin to realise the suffering so many people in our world experience every day. Almsgiving: Is a sign of our care for those in need and an expression of our gratitude for all that God has given to us. St Bernard s is committed to the support of Caritas Australia through our Project Compassion appeal. God of the Wilderness you were with Jesus in his struggle to seek the right path Be with us as we face the seductions that our world offers as the path to happiness. Teach us through your Word and the example of others to grow through challenge and live life to the full. Amen Attention Stage 3 Parents! Dates for The Dish Term 1 17 th March Term 3 1 st Sept.
