FROM THE PRINCIPAL WELCOME Dear Parents We welcome your interest in choosing a school for your daughter. It is a most important decision. The quality of this home away from home experience will, to a great extent, predict a happy and successful future for your daughter. The College was founded over 60 years ago by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Our outstanding academic achievement leads graduates on to University courses, in a wide variety of fields. The South Australian education system is excellent and qualifications are recognised throughout the world. Our International Program is well established and we limit the places Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College is an all girls secondary Catholic College, with 600 students from Years 8-12. Founded in 1951 in Adelaide, South Australia, OLSH is located in Enfield, only 6 kms from the Adelaide CBD and 20 minutes from Adelaide International Airport. OLSH College offers young women: a caring, welcoming environment expert individual academic advice language support in all subject areas teaching of English as an Additional Language (EAL) in small classes and individually affordable fee structure including all camps and excursions available to a small number of girls. CURRICULUM AWARDS Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College is an excellent place to learn English and to complete pre University courses. A wide range of subject choices gives every student the opportunity to excel. Our teachers are highly qualified, chosen for their generosity with time, and are determined that each student in their care will succeed. Our curriculum is designed to identify and accommodate the needs of all our students, providing choice and pathways for all. Learning through technology plays an important role across all curriculum areas. A high speed wireless network provides all learning areas with access to shared resources through the OLSH Portal. Classrooms are equipped with data projectors and interactive whiteboard technologies. Each student receives a laptop for use in all learning areas and at home. Access to the OLSH Portal 24/7 provides an online educational environment that is both challenging and stimulating. Our teaching methodology is innovative and engaging. We believe that each student is unique and her learning style is important. We aim to deliver a curriculum that recognises the learning styles of students and caters to their diverse needs. Our special strengths are in the Sciences. Small classes in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry ensure specialist options. Through our Careers Program students receive personalised support and guidance to identify their chosen pathway, tailored to their needs leading them to one of the Universities or TAFE Colleges. Buildings around courtyards create a family atmosphere and a strong sense of community. Our exceptional Information Communication Technology Labs, specialised computer aided Science laboratories, Art/Design rooms, Music rooms and resource based learning areas along with computers and supporting technologies in every classroom enable dynamic learning possibilities for students within the curriculum. A Performing Arts Centre and a state of the art Library, further support active and enthusiastic learning.
