Students dismissed at 2.15pm School resumes for Term 3 Whole School Mass led by Rooms 14 & 15 Dear Families, CULTURAL INFUSION Last week Level 1,2 and 4 had the opportunity to be involved in a range of cultural experiences. The children enjoyed the range of experiences by the different presenters. The children were involved and experienced the following... Children learnt about what it means to be indigenous and some aspects of Aboriginal culture. They listened to an Aboriginal leader playing a Didgeridoo (Yaakii). Children watched traditional Indonesian dancing. A Chinese acrobat performed amazing circus tricks spinning plates and other objects.

BOLLYWOOD DANCING Children were taught typical Bollywood dancing moves and actions. The session concluded with a Bollywood style dance off. Children listened to music from several South American countries. They were introduced to traditional wind and percussion instruments. IPADS Term 4 will see the introduction of ipads into the Prep, Year 1 and 2 classrooms. Each class will have 6 or 7 ipads for children to use the literacy and numeracy apps together with becoming familiar with the many other ipad features. A FEW REMINDERS... School Hours Before school children are supervised from 8.30 am to 8.50 am only. No responsibility is taken for children who arrive before 8.30 am. Children are only able to leave the school (during school time) if a family member fills out the early dismissal forms in the office. School finishes at 3.15 pm every day. Children are supervised until 3.35 pm, then they wait in the office and parents are phoned. School Crossing It is important that children and adults use the school crossing when crossing the road. Parents, please set a good example for your child by using the crossing. Remember to greet our crossing helper, who does a wonderful job each day.

Staff Meetings The Staff meet every Tuesday afternoon. If you wish to make appointments to speak to teachers, please avoid Tuesday afternoons. Classroom teachers walk their grade outside after school. This is a great opportunity to have a quick chat with your child s classroom teacher. School Uniform Children are expected to wear their full school uniform (including black leather shoes) every day except on sports days when they will wear their sports uniform. Runners are ONLY to be worn on sports days. If it is a cold day weather forecast, children may continue to wear their winter uniform. Parents, please send a note if your child/ren is not in the correct uniform. GIRLS TERM 4 - SUMMER UNIFORM BOYS Red check dress or Primary School Wear navy shorts or skirts, white socks (long or short), black school shoes (no heel), school windcheater with logo. Red polo shirt with logo, navy Primary School Wear shorts, navy blue socks, black school shoes, school windcheater with logo. Note: No other shorts, other than Primary School Wear, are to be worn. The school hat, with logo, is compulsory in Terms 1 & 4. BRIMBANK WRITERS FESTIVAL 17-28 September 2012 The Brimbank Writers Festival encourages a love of writing and literature, celebrates diversity and creativity and promotes life-long learning. Festival events include panel discussion and author talks, interviews, workshops for kids, teens and adults, readings, storytelling and more. FURNITURE We have two desks that are available for free. They are located outside the Magdalene Room. If you would like one please let the office know so we can put one aside for you. They include colourful pictures of annual events at Resurrection where our community has taken part in the different celebrations. The school children are also pictured proudly on one of the calendar months. At a cost of $5.00, the calendars are available after some of the weekend masses, from the school canteen or by telephoning Jane on 0421 593 189. PARISH NEWS Weekly Bulletin 15th September Australian Catholic Youth Festival The biggest Catholic youth gathering since World Youth day Sydney 2008 is gathering here in Melbourne for a festival of fun music, talks, workshops and activities celebrating as one church. The Festival is open to those in year 9 up until 25 years of age (in 2013). Dates 5 7 th Dec 2013 For details: www.youthfestival.catholic.org.au Fr Noel Fr Noel is now walking in the Pyrenees; he is keeping well and praying for all of us. He sends his wishes and hopes all is going well at Resurrection. Living Rosary During the month of October The Liturgy group are organising a Rosary to be said 15 minutes before each mass. On the last Saturday 27 th October a living rosary will be said at the 5pm, before mass. This involves parishioners who will be Rosary beads. If you are interested in being part of a living rosary please contact the parish office or leave your name at the welcome desk. Outreach Carers Afternoon Spiritual Reflection for Carers 22 nd September at 2.00pm, if you are interested please contact the Outreach Group or parish office. Baptisms Out next Baptism parent meeting is 22 nd September at 10.30 am. If anyone is interested in baptising their child 4 th November please pick up Baptism application forms from the Welcome Desk or contact the parish office. Table Cloths A large number of table cloths are missing, so if you have taken table clothes home to be washed, please bring them back ASAP as they are needed for the coming events in our hall. Ballroom Dancing Ballroom dancing every Monday commencing 8 th October 2012 at Resurrection Parish Hall. Time:7.00pm 9.30 pm. Cost: $5.00 per person. Come along and have some fun. Movie Night Social group will be holding a movie night on WHEN: Saturday 29th September TIME: 7.15pm WHERE: Parish hall MOVIE: THE AVENGERS. Hot dogs and drinks will be on sale on the night. We will have a $5.00 movie deal. (Movie, hot dog and drink) An affordable night, so come and have a great night!!!! PAULS COLLECT A CAP We are collecting Pauls Caps from milk bottles. For each cap collected Pauls will donate 10cents to our school. Please collect the caps and place them in the special Paul s collection Bin in the school office.
