ADITYA BIRLA PUBLIC SCHOOL UAIL CAMPUS, DORAGUDA PO-KUCHEIPADAR, DIST-RAYAGADA, ODISHA-765015 BI-ANNUAL REPORT (OCT, 2013-MARCH, 2014) 1. Children s Day Celebration and Fancy Dress Competition: (14 th November, 2013) Children s Day was celebrated at Aditya Birla Public School UAIL Campus on 14 th November, 2013. The Day began with the Morning Assembly. Mr. L.N. Dash, the Principal of the school along with other teachers garlanded the portraits of Pandit J.L. Nehru and Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla as it was also his birthday. Mr. Santosh Bahadur Singh enlightened the students about Pandit Nehru and the importance of Children s Day. Mrs. T. Varalakshmi spoke about the successful journey of Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla, the eminent industrialist India has ever produced. Soon after the Morning Assembly, all the children gathered in the audiovisual hall. A Fancy Dress Competition for classes Play Group to Class-III was held in which 98 students had participated. The competition was conducted successfully. The children looked very sweet and innocent in their colourful costumes and there were excitement amongst the children till the competition started. All the participants displayed their roles beautifully depicting different persons and things. Three judges were there to judgethe competition in which the children were placed in 1st, 2 nd and 3 rd positions from each class. The children were awarded by the judges. The celebration did not end with this. The atmosphere was vibrated with the cultural programmes by the students. After the successful completion of the programme, Mrs. Suman Pandey gave vote of thanks.
2. Solo and Group Song Competition: (23 rd November, 2013) Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. With regard to this an Inter-Class Solo and Group Song Competition was conducted in the Audio-Visual Hall of Aditya Birla Public School UAIL Campus on 23 rd of November 2013. Fifty students from Classes-II to VII enthusiastically participated in this competition. The students were divided into three Groups in the Solo Song Competition. The way the students sang was really exquisite. The Principal welcomed the Judges & thanked the parents for entrusting on school to nurture their children. He has welcomed Ms. Chandrima Biswas & Ms. IndraniDey of Utkalina Ladies Club & thanked them for sphering their valuable time to judge the competition. Judgement was done on the basis of SUR, LAYA, TAL, BHAW/Expression and Body Language. Soon after the Solo Song, the Group Song Competition followed. It was delightful for the ears, when these little angels sang melodiously. The winners were felicitated with prizes and certificates. At the end, the judges remarked that it was very difficult to choose the winners because all the participants were excellent in their performance. However, the best ones were the winners. 3. Annual Athletic Meet: (18 th & 19 th December, 2013) To ensure a sound physical health and overall development of a child, games and sports activities are very much essential. The Annual Athletic Meet was organized at Aditya Birla Public School UAIL Campus on the 18 th & 19 th of December 2013. At the outset, a melodious song was sung depicting the theme of sportsmanship. Mr. Soumyadarshan Biswas- VP-HR, UAIL Doraguda was the Chief Guest of this mega event. In the Inaugural Ceremony, he addressed the gathering with a motivating and energizing speech. Delineating the origin and importance of games and sports, Mr. Biswas said that games and sports were evolved along with the evolution of life. People in the olden days were running either to escape from the animals or to hunt them. They didn t run for any competition or amusement. With the evolution of human life, there has been a great transformation and the transformation is in the form of competition, recreation and entertainment.
The Chief Guest of the day inaugurated the competition by putting the shot. Soon after this the enthused and eager students participated in this with the guidance and instruction of the Physical Education Teacher Mr. Surya Ranjan Mishra. Varieties of field events and track events like Running Race, Shuttle Running Race, Shot Put, Broad Jump and Over Head Ball Throw were included. The children had been divided into six Groups and they competed in their respective Groups. The most cherishing moment was the Closing Ceremony on Day-2 i.e. on 19 th December 2013. Mr. Deepak Kumar Dey-VP-Projects, UAIL had kindly consented to be a part of this Programme and to give away the prizes. The winners were felicitated with medals and certificates. The atmosphere was charged with frolics, encouragement and applause. A vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Surya Ranjan Mishra and the Programme was concluded with the National Anthem. 4. 65 th Republic Day Celebration: (26 th January, 2014) The 65 th Republic Day of India was enthusiastically celebrated at Aditya Birla Public School UAIL Campus on 26 th of January 2014. On that day, Mr. Sabdendu Mohan, Vice President-Process, UAIL Doraguda unfurled the National Flag and took the salutes of the students. Mr. Soumyadarshan Biswas, Vice President-HR & Trustee, Utkal Alumina Jana Seva Trust graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Mr. L.N Dash, Principal of the school welcomed the distinguished guests, parents, teachers and the people of local villages. In his welcome address, Mr. Dash spoke about the objectives of the Republic Day and also reminded the selfless sacrifice of the martyrs and freedom fighters of our country. Mr. S. Biswas, Vice President-HR & Trustee, Utkal Alumina Jana Seva Trust, expressed his greetings to the parents, teachers and the tiny tots of ABPS. In his speech, Mr. Biswas appealed the parents to enable their children to THINK BIG and translate this thought into action. He assured to extend all possible support from the UAIL management to run the school.
Various cultural programmes are arranged by the school to make the day more appealing for the spectators. The children displayed variation in culture through their colourful attires and folk dances of Odisha and Nagaland as well as One in All with Pom-Poms (Dance form to convey the message of Unity in Diversity). The cultural programme presented by the children both in ABPS UAIL Campus as well as UAIL Main Office was appreciated by one and all. 5. Inter-Class Odia Speech Competition: (8 th February, 2014) The Inter-Class Odia Speech Competition was conducted on 8 th February, 2014. The participants enthusiastically delivered speeches in their mother tongue. The winners were felicitated with prizes and medals.

CBSE Inspection:(19 th FEBRUARY 2014) The CBSE Inspection Committee Comprised of Mr.R.N.Sndhil Kumar, Principal, KV-2 Bolangir, (Convenor) and Mr. BholanathMohanta, Principal, DAV Public School, Burla(Member) visited the School on 19 th of February 2014 for our school s affiliation to CBSE for secondary classes. They inspected the school starting from the Morning Assembly to the departure of students. The members of the Inspection Committee appreciated the efforts put in by the Aditya Birla Group in establishing a school in one of the remotest location of our country and subsidising the school fees of the students from socially and economically backward families. The Convenor addressed the students and staff of our school and stated that the school is doing a wonderful job in educating the first generation learners.
Medals and Certificates of NSO were given away to the students as well as teachers by our Mr. R.N.Sendhil Kumar, Convenor-IC, CBSE.
