There will be needs-based prekindergarten for families that cannot afford tuition, but we need to determine how many families are interested in tuitionbased pre-kindergarten. Please forward THIS SURVEY to families that might be interested. International Week: The next Ogden International Week meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 22 at 8:45am in the cafeteria. It s not too late to join. Save the Date: Ogden s 2 nd Annual International Week takes place June 11-15. The evening event features performances from around the world and exhibits from more than 20 Consulates is June 14, 5-7pm. If you are interested in sharing your heritage by reading a story to a classroom, showing off fashion from another country, or performing during the week, please contact cwarltier@sbcglobal.net Student leadership: Last week Ogden students led their peers in a walkout over gun violence. Regardless of where we stand on this issue, we were very proud of their leadership. The IB philosophy is couched in the belief we want Page%1%of%12

our students to become actively involved and engaged and to change the world to become more peaceful and inclusive. Check out photos of their leadership on our school Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ogdeninternational/ or you can see a few below. Ogden students succeed! Last week Ogden Middle School students hosted their History Fair with amazing presentations of their research. Also, congratulations to Letty, Ogden's Spelling Bee champ, who participated in the city-wide competition and outlasted half the field, and all other 4th graders. See photo below. Learning never stops at Ogden, make sure learning continues at home! Prepare your student for the NWEA (K-8th) and PSAT (9-10th) and SAT (11th) by using IXL and/or Khan Academy, along with reading 20 minutes a day, and memorizing math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)...even students in Middle School grades and higher can improve their automaticity of their math facts. Please continue reading below to learn more about what is happening at East and West Campus. Sincerely, Dr. Michael Beyer, Principal East Campus Week of March 19, 2018 Specials Schedule: Monday, 3/19 = A Tuesday, 3/20 = B Wednesday, 3/21 = C Thursday, 3/22 = D Friday, 3/23 = E Week B Recess Schedule Preferred Snack List Upcoming Event Calendar Page%2%of%12

OST After School Clubs: Please be reminded that clubs run from 3:30 to 4:30pm. Parents, please be on time for your child's pick-up. If students are repeatedly not being picked on time, it is possible that your child will lose their spot in the club. This week, ELL with Technology will not be in session on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. A Message from our Action Club: Did you know that hundreds of millions of children worldwide do not have access to education? Many of these children are part of child labor or serving as child soldiers. In fact, 150 million children around the world are involved in child labor. 1 in 9 girls are married before the age of 15. These children should have the opportunity to be in school instead! The Ogden Action Club is organizing a day of silence on March 20th to raise awareness for these children who do not have a voice. All funds raised will be donated to the WE Organization to increase access to education around the world. Students can bring $5 on Tuesday, March 20th to join the Action Club in taking a vow of silence! All School Wolves Hockey Game: For those of you that are hockey fans, don't forget to send in your registration form and payment if you plan to attend the Wolves hockey game on April 14. Students have come every Monday to work on complex math problems, teaming up with students from different grade levels, and building a community of mathletes ready to face any challenge head on. They have participated in the Chicago Junior Math League and MathCounts competition (earning 2nd place!). Math, it's easy as pi! Thank you Friends of Ogden for funding! Middle School students use Accountable Talk question stems to give peers feedback on their history fair projects. Page%8%of%12
