Dear Class of 2016 and Parents: As we near the end of your senior year, I hope you will reflect back on the four years you have spent here at West Ranch, and how they have helped shape you into the person you will become. Graduation is just around the corner and the rest of your life lies ahead. Before that moment arrives, we have planned several senior activities to enhance the end of your high school experience. We encourage you to participate in as many of these events as possible. The Senior Handbook is designed to assist you in planning and coordinating all of the end-of-the-year activities and responsibilities. Please read it carefully. The Faculty and Staff here at West Ranch High School could not be more proud of you and the accomplishments of the Class of 2016. We wish you a most successful and rewarding future. A student under the influence of or possessing any controlled substance at any senior event will be suspended from school and may be excluded from subsequent activities, including the graduation ceremony. Appropriate behavior and regular school attendance is expected in order to be eligible for all of your senior activities. Graduation is the moment we have all been waiting for, and it s coming up quickly. Luckily, we still have the rest of the semester to continue to create unforgettable memories and build more incredible friendships. May 2016 Due to graduation scheduling for the William S. Hart Union High School District, final exams for Seniors will be administered prior to the rest of the school. Teachers will inform seniors of the date for their individual final exam in advance. All seniors must have completed their final exams by the end of the day on May 20, 2016. Seniors who are in danger of failing a class required for graduation must take their final exam prior to May 20, 2016. Counselors will notify parents on May 20, 2016 if their child is failing any class that affects their graduation status. May 19 - May 25, 2016 Before school, brunch & lunch Library/Textbook Center Students must clear their library and textbook obligations to be eligible to receive 10 graduation tickets at practice on May 26, 2016. April 25 - May 5, 2016 Before school, brunch & lunch ASB Office Seniors with any financial obligations will not be allowed to purchase tickets to any senior event until all delinquencies are paid. This includes possible fines for parking, textbooks, and/or other items that are property of West Ranch High School. Seniors with outstanding debts will not be distributed caps and gowns. Please make sure your senior checks with the Library and ASB Office to meet their financial responsibilities. Reminder: Cash Only begins on May 2, 2016. May 10, 2016-6:30 pm West Ranch Theater Seniors who have completed the requirements of a Career Path will be honored on this special night by their Career Path Advisor. Families are invited to celebrate their student s achievements along with the West Ranch Staff. Look for a special invitation. Please dress professionally. May 19, 2016-6:30 pm Gymnasium Seniors will be recognized for academic excellence, receipt of college scholarships and various other achievements. Faculty, outside agencies, universities, and military personnel will be on hand to make presentations. The dress code is professional: collared shirts, slacks, skirts, and dresses. No denim. Seniors receiving awards, will be given a personal invitation for them and their families to attend.

All requirements must be met before West Ranch can certify a student for graduation. Seniors failing to meet the graduation requirements cannot participate in the graduation ceremony. Any senior failing a required course may make it up in summer school which starts Friday, July 1, 2016. The diploma awarded will be for August graduation after a counselor verifies that all requirements have been met. Summer School applications are available online at the district website. Seniors needing Final Official Transcripts for any college or university should submit their request through NAVIANCE before graduation. If you do not have your NAVIANCE account set up, then a written request will need to be submitted in the Registrars office. Official Transcripts can be ordered at any time after graduation. Be sure to fill out the request card marked FINAL to prevent the college or university from receiving an incomplete transcript. You must include the complete mailing address of the college or university if the Transcript is to be mailed. Official Transcripts will not be mailed to a home address. Final Transcripts will be mailed or may be picked up after June 15, 2016, once final grades have been posted. SENIOR SUNSET 7:00-9:00 pm Location: Football Field Free to VIP holders $10.00 for other WR Seniors. - 9:30 am Gymnasium Seniors will meet in the main gym to receive instructions and details about graduation practice. Seating assignments will be posted, and expectations will be discussed. After Senior Meeting Gymnasium Graduating seniors will receive their pre-ordered caps and gowns for graduation after the senior meeting. Please make every effort to have your gown neatly pressed before it is worn at graduation. The cap and gown deadline has passed so please visit jostens.com or call (818)367-2929 and place your order today. After Cap & Gown Distribution Gymnasium Immediately following the distribution of caps and gowns, graduating seniors will pose for an 11 x 30 color panorama picture. The photo is free for Senior V.I.P. Holders, and $25.00 CASH for any others. Payment must be made to the ASB Office by May 20, 2016. Pictures will be available for pickup, Thursday, May 26, 2016. They will not be mailed home.

Senior Celebration 2016 May 25, 2016 8:00 pm - Midnight The Senior Celebration includes a harbor cruise, dinner, dancing, casino games, and more. Senior Celebration is open to the West Ranch Graduating Class of 2016. No guests, please! Transportation to the Senior Celebration will be by school bus only. Students will check in at the WR School Cafeteria Foyer no later than 6:30pm and will return around 1:00am. The event is free to Senior V.I.P. Package holders and $135 to all others. Final payments for the V.I.P. Package are due Thursday, March 24th, by 1pm. If you did not purchase the Senior V.I.P. Package, you can still participate in the Senior Celebration. GRADUATION TICKETS May 26, 2016 Tickets for the ceremony will be distributed at graduation practice to seniors with no outstanding financial obligations. Each graduate will be allotted ten tickets. Any available extra tickets will be given out in the SRC (Student Responsibility Center) at WR from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on May 26, 2016. GRADUATION PRACTICE May 26, 2016-8:00 am College of the Canyons Stadium Participation in the graduation practice is mandatory in order to participate in the actual graduation ceremony. Students should arrive at the COC Stadium by 8:00 am, and proceed directly to the chairs on the field. Please sit in your assigned seat. Graduation is an important and dignified ceremony, which holds significant meaning for the graduating seniors, parents, families, and West Ranch Staff. The ceremony signifies the successful culmination of thirteen years of education. In order to ensure a graduation ceremony that is meaningful to all, the following is expected of all participants: Graduates are to be courteous during the entire ceremony and are to refrain from any activity that is disruptive, distracting, or dangerous. Please follow directions. Graduates are not to carry anything with them into the ceremony. Caps and gowns may not be altered or decorated in any fashion. Any student who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or of any controlled substance will not be allowed to participate. Smoking is not allowed at any time before, during, or after the ceremony. Graduates are to dress appropriately for a ceremony of this nature. Men should wear collared shirts and slacks. Women should wear nice dresses, dress pants, skirts, and blouses. No denim. Examples of inappropriate dress are beach or sports clothing, flipflop type sandals, jeans, and t-shirts. If a candidate for graduation violates any of the above behavior standards, he/she will not receive a diploma at graduation and will be asked to leave the ceremony. The student will be required to attend a parent conference with the principal the week following graduation. REMINDER: Graduates must attend commencement practice. All debts to the school must be cleared in order to participate in the ceremony and other graduation-related activities. May 26, 2016-7:00 pm College of the Canyons Stadium All graduates are to report to the COC East Gym at 5:00 pm. Graduates will not be allowed to carry presents, flowers, or cameras during the ceremony. Graduates are not to decorate their cap or gown with any items. May 26, 2016 Immediately following Commencement Graduates will receive only their diploma cover during the ceremony. The actual diploma will be distributed to all graduating seniors in the COC concession area immediately following the graduation. Diplomas will not be mailed home.
