Message from the Principal Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at École Camrose Composite High School and Battle River Online. We are located on the west end of Camrose and adjacent to the Highway at 6211-48 Avenue. ECCHS is a public, co-ed and dual track school from Grades 9 to 12. BROL is a public online school from Grades 1 to 12. There are 762 students at École Camrose Composite High School (702 students) and Battle River Online (66 students). We have approximately 40 international students each year from many different countries around the world. ECCHS also offers an extensive CTF program to about 500 junior high school students from Hay Lakes, Round Hill, Bawlf, Cornerstone, and Charlie Killam schools. Here at École Camrose Composite High School and Battle River Online, we offer a broad program of academic core and complimentary courses. These include physical education, fine arts, and an extensive selection of career and technology studies courses. The students benefit from a broad counseling program, an English as a second language program, a modern media centre, off-campus programs, extra-curricular programs (i.e. badminton, basketball, volleyball, curling, cross country running, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track & field, and a specialized hockey academy class, various school clubs and students union), and a cafeteria service. We believe that all students can be successful learners, and that every student has the right to an enjoyable and engaging education. Our learning environment is positive and caring which supports individual differences, allowing all students to take risks in their pursuit of excellence. We strive to build strong relationships between staff, students, families, and the school community. We continue to challenge students and assist them in becoming responsible learners. The relationship between home and school is essential to the success of the student. We look forward to working in partnership with parents to ensure the success of their children and our students as we embark on this new school year. Our mission is to provide the best possible educational opportunities for all of our students. ECCHS - Ipsis Este Veri (Be True to Yourself) BROL Your Path-Your Choice-Your Future Yours in Education, Mr. T. Sieben, B.Ed., M.Ed. Accountability Statement The Annual Education Results Report for the 2015-2016 school year and the Education Plan for the three years commencing September 1, 2016 for École Camrose Composite High School and Battle River Online was prepared under the direction of the Board in accordance with its responsibilities under the School Act and the Fiscal Management Act. This document was developed in the context of the provincial government s business and fiscal plans. École Camrose Composite High School and Battle River Online have used our performance results to develop the plan and is committed to implementing the strategies contained within the plan to improve student learning and results. École Camrose Composite High School, Battle River Online, and the ECCHS/BROL School (Parent) Council approved the Education Plan for 2016-2017 for submission to Alberta Education on Wednesday, November 16 th, 2016. Mr. T. Sieben Principal Mrs. A. Kowal School (Parent) Council Chair Communication of our Plan Duplicates of the plan are made available to all ECCHS/BROL staff and School (Parent) Council members for discussion and feedback. Highlights are published in local/social media, and copies of the report are available at our campus office as well as on the school websites. École Camrose Composite High School and Battle River Online believe this Three Year Education Plan and AERR must be a living document to assist the school in achieving the goals for continuous improvement and success. Foundation Statements Vision Our vision is to promote and preserve the positive environment of the school to remain flexible and adaptable to changes that occur within our society. Mission ECCHS - To provide the best possible educational opportunities for all of our students. BROL - To provide the best possible educational experience for our students that they may pursue that of which they dream. Beliefs ECCHS - Ipsis Este Veri - Be True to Yourself BROL - Your Path - Your Choice - Your Future Page 4

Our School Profiles École Camrose Composite High School - ECCHS opened in 1963. We provide services to 702 grade 9 to 12 students. In addition, we offer CTS courses to approximately 500 junior high school students from neighboring schools. The majority of our students live in the City of Camrose. Other students are transported by bus from acreages and farms in the area. We have a healthy contingency of international students. Our students pursue either an Alberta High School Diploma or a Certificate of Achievement. A full range of academic courses are available to students. They also have access to a broad range of CTS and option courses. We offer a Senior Opportunity Room for special needs students. Our school provides a wide range of extracurricular programs for students. These include athletics, music, drama, as well as numerous other leadership opportunities. Our school is dedicated to the cause of providing an atmosphere in which students can develop to their full potential. Our mandate is to provide the opportunities that ensure that students can acquire the skills needed to become self-reliant, responsible, caring, and contributing members of society. We believe in promoting inclusiveness and acceptance. As a result, we are a "Challenge Day" school and have an active "Be the Change" team. Battle River Online BROL opened its first web site in September of 1997. Initially, the school was called CMOS Centre and ran programs for Grades 3-9 with the plan to expand into High School in following years. The CMOS Centre was first run out of Edberg School and enrolled 22 students in its first year. In 1998 the CMOS Centre was moved to Camrose to the Instructional Services Centre as a response to the growing interest in the school and to better access many of the resources available through Central Office. Grade 1, 2, 10 and 11 were added that year as well. http://www.brsd.ab.ca/in 2000, the school was renamed Battle River Online (BROL). The school had seen its first high school graduate students and was continuing to expand programs and course selections. Battle River Online also began working with traditional Battle River Schools to offer blended programs to students and access to courses that would not normally be available. The student population of BROL has shown steady growth since 1997. Following a policy of conservative growth and a program before profit attitude has enabled BROL to develop a school program that is second to none in the province. The blend of online, paper and pencil, and class presentation of school material allows students to experience many learning styles and environments.
