PRINCIPAL S REPORT Edition 31-15 th October 2014 The first performance of our School Concert, Lights, Camera, Action!, took place at The Besen Centre last night. Our students from Years One, Three, Four, Five and Six shone as they presented some Oscar winning routines to delight a most appreciative audience. Tonight our Prep and Year Two students will join the cast and complete what will have been a most successful whole school event. In next week s Newsletter we will include a complete list of acknowledgements with a more detailed wrap up of two wonderful nights of entertainment. There are just a few tickets left for tonight s performance so make sure you do get along to see this terrific show. At Monday s assembly we took the opportunity to officially welcome our new Business Manager, Ricarda Lillis to Greythorn. Ricarda was the Business Manager at Donvale Primary School prior to joining the staff at Greythorn. Please take the opportunity to drop by and say hello to Ricarda. Following their success at the Divisional Athletic Sports last week, the following students will represent Greythorn at the Regional level tomorrow: Elizabeth J (6D), Christina M (6D), Caitlin I (6M), Luke K (6M), Chris O (6M), Anna B (5N) and William C (4K). Good luck to you all! Transition sessions for our 2015 Preps are scheduled to commence next Wednesday 22 nd October, with the opportunity for them to participate in a number of specialist sessions. Our prospective Preps will also share some time with their Year Three friends. These sessions continue on Thursday 23 rd October and again during November. A reminder to all those attending Prep Transition that this program will commence in the Stadium at 9.30am. I had the pleasure recently of watching our Year Six Boys Indoor Cricket team play their grand final against Xavier (Year Seven team). With some tight, accurate bowling and excellent fielding, our boys kept Xavier to a reasonable score. The run chase began and gathered momentum as the final pair closed in on the target. Xavier took a couple of timely wickets which saw them run out narrow winners. Congratulations to our team: Angus J (6J), Mitch B-B (6S), Ollie S (6S), Cameron G (6S), Jackson H (6S capt), Tom B (6D). Many thanks to the team s coach Paua Crawford Hall and to all parents who have supported the boys during the season. School Banking - every FRIDAY except the last day of term. Welcome back to School Banking for Term 4! We d like to congratulate you amazing savers! You have helped raise $1,757 for Greythorn Primary School so far by just banking at school each Friday and we still have one more term to go. Not only that but you helped raise the most money out of any school in Boroondara and the second highest amount out of any school in the South Eastern and Inner Metro areas so extra pats on the back. How did you do this? Each new account opened raises $5 for our school and for every amount banked on a Friday we receive 5% commission. SCHOOL BANKING TROPHY: Congratulations to IA who won the School Banking Trophy again last Friday. What an amazing effort from your class every week. Keep up the good work. Who will win this week? TERM 4 COMPETITION there are two! Please see the attached flyers.
