FROM THE PRINCIPAL: HGP NEWSLETTER November 2012 Dear Parents: I hope this newsletter finds you well and back to your normal routine after the effects of Hurricane Sandy. We did lose a number of trees on campus, but the grounds and buildings are as solid as the traditions we live on a daily basis. On Sunday, November 4 the juniors received their rings during our annual Ring Mass. This year the mass was centered on the theme of Companions On The Journey, in which the students come to know one another through the breaking of the bread. The annual Morthers Guild Craft Show will be held in our Field House Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11. This is a major event run by the mothers. On Tuesday, November 13, at 7:30 PM in our Dining Hall, we present the first session of our Parent Education Series. Mike DeAngelo, a doctoral candidate and adjunct professor from La Salle University, will speak to the students and parents on how to communicate to your sons about sensitive topics, behavioral pitfalls and how to avoid drugs and alcohol. Juniors and seniors will attend a similar presentation that morning. Parents of juniors and seniors, please note that attendance at any one of these lectures by at least one parent is required for current juniors and seniors to be able to attend the Prom on April 12, 2013. Junior peer ministers will once again lead a student morning of reflection on Wednesday, November 21. Our National Honor Society will run a benefit 3 on 3 basketball tournament on the same day to fund their annual scholarship program. We are in the heart of our admissions season for the class of 2017. Thanks to all of our parents who helped make Open House so successful. We have our make-up entrance exam Sunday, December 9 at 8:30 AM. If you know of any interested applicants please have them contact Ryan Abramson for further details. Second Progress Reports will be issued online Friday, November 30. We will not have face-toface meetings after this progress report. However, I would encourage everyone to review your sons grades and contact the teachers with any concerns you may have. Sincerely, Jeffrey Danilak
