Student Entrance Requirements Academic Year 2018 International Student Entrance Examination (Dual applications possible) Undergraduate Courses (For those wishing to enter as a first year student on April 1, 2018) Setsunan University

The international student entrance examination at Setsunan University is an examination for international students who wish to enter certain faculties and departments of Setsunan University. The application procedures and examination dates have therefore been prepared separately and these academic subject examinations are only to be taken by international students. However, after entering the university, international students are expected to attend lectures given in in the same way as other students. International students have the opportunity to study -language subjects to help them develop the skills necessary for studying in the university and seeking employment in Japan.

The acceptance of applications is performed for each department. 2. The Law, Foreign Studies, Economics, Business Administration and Science and Engineering have established different courses, but no distinction is made between courses at the time of admissions. 3. The Pharmaceutical Sciences has six-year study of term. II Qualifications for application Those who meet the following requirements are qualified to apply. (1) Applicants with foreign nationality who will have reached their 18th birthday by April 1, 2018 (2) Applicants who have completed at least 12 years of school education in a foreign country or persons equivalent to this who are specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (including persons expected to have completed that education by March, 2018) (3) Applicants whose status of residence after entering the university will in principle be College student [Please note] 1. If it is discovered after the application is submitted that the applicant is not qualified to apply, then the application or successful examination result may be canceled. 2. The lectures at the university are given in, so it is necessary for students to have a sufficiently high level of language ability that will not be a problem for lecture comprehension. 3. It is necessary to specify a proxy to be contacted if it is not possible to contact the individual making the application. This proxy contact must be able to reliably communicate any notifications from the university. The proxy contact must reside in Japan (and preferably in the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe area) and must be an adult making an independent living. - 1 -

III Selection method The pass or fail judgment will be decided with comprehensive consideration of the results for each item below. V Application procedure 1. Application period From Monday October 2, 2017 to 13:00 on Friday October 13, 2017 (Applications should be submitted to the Admissions office by hand. Applications not possible on Sundays and public holidays.) *Only applicants who are from the partner institutions of Setsunan University can submit the application documents by mail. (not e-mail) 2. Application documents (Always attach a translation of any document that is written in a foreign language.) (1) [1] Entrance application form, [3] Examination admission ticket, [4] Address form (Forms specified by the university) Enter all the items required without omission. Attach a photograph of the applicant s face (4 cm high 3 cm wide) to [1] Entrance application form. (2) Certificate of Proficiency (Forms specified by the university) or Language Proficiency Test certificate (Original) If the Certificate of Proficiency specified by this University is to be submitted, then be sure to enter all the items required without omission. (3) Notification of contact address for when applicant is absent (Forms specified by the university) Enter all the items required without omission. (4) Certificate of (expected) graduation from final school attended (Original) Applicants who submit a certificate of expected graduation must submit a certificate of graduation before entering the university. (5) Certificate of academic record including details of the period registered at the high school attended (Original) Applicants should submit an academic record certificate that gives information on the period of time registered. If the period of registration is not written on the academic record certificate, then also submit a document that gives information on the period of registration. However, persons who have obtained the International Baccalaureate, Abitur (Germany) or Baccalauréat (France) qualification should submit the documents in the table below instead of (4) and (5). (7) Certificate of nationality This is only to be submitted by persons who are unable to submit the document in (6). 3. Entrance examination fee 35,000 yen Method for payment of entrance examination fee (1) Enter the items required on the [2] Transfer request form, [3] Examination admission ticket and [4] Address form specified by this University without omission and then present them at a bank, etc., without tearing any part off. (2) Use [2] Transfer request form and transfer the entrance examination fee from the service counter of a bank, etc. [Please note] 1. Money should NOT be transferred from an ATM (automatic teller machine) or via Internet banking, etc. 2. No fee will be charged for the transfer if it is sent from a main branch or branch of a Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ or Resona Bank. (3) When submitting the documents to the service counter of a bank, etc., always request the communication of the reference number (7 digits) and applicant name (in katakana) shown within the bold black lines on [2] Transfer request form. (4) When transferring the entrance examination fee, always check that the stamp of receipt by the handling bank is stamped on [3] Examination admission ticket. If this stamp has been forgotten, please return to the bank where the transfer was made and request that it is stamped. (Any [3] Examination admission ticket without a stamp of receipt by the handling bank will be invalid.) [Cautions] For details of the method for payment of the entrance examination fee, please read the separate Method for Payment of Entrance Examination Fee sheet carefully. - 3 -

4. Application method Applications should be submitted to the Admissions office by hand. After payment of the entrance examination fee, place the set of application documents in an envelope (of any type) and bring them to the Neyagawa Campus Admissions Office service counter shown in the Application address in the item below during the period (times) specified as the Application period in 1 above. [Hours of handling] 9:00-17:00 (Excluding Sundays and public holidays. Until 13:00 on the final day of the application period.) [Please note] Under no circumstances will the payment of the entrance examination fee be accepted at the Admissions Office service counter. The entrance examination fee must always be paid at the service counter of a bank, etc., before making the application. Applications will not be accepted if the fee has not been paid. Only applicants who are from the partner institutions of Setsunan University can submit the application documents by mail. (not e-mail) Application documents should be mailed by express, registered mail (EMS), no later than the deadline. 5. Notes regarding applications (1) Applications will not be accepted if there is anything insufficient on the application documents. Please check the documents thoroughly before applying and make the application as early as possible. (2) Regardless of the reason, once an application has been made, it is not possible to change the faculty or department applied to or to correct any mistakes. (3) Persons such as those with a physical disability who will require special consideration during the sitting of the entrance examination and after entering the University should contact the Admissions Office before the start of the application period. (4) The application documents and entrance examination fee will not be returned once they have been accepted. However, the Language Proficiency Test certificate will be returned after the completion of the examination if this is requested by the applicant. (The University will bear the postal costs required for returning it.) VI Date of results announcement (Planned date of sending of results notification) November 14, 2017 (Tuesday) 1. Notification of the pass or fail result will be sent by express mail to all persons who have taken the examination. However, please be aware that if the applicant is resident outside of Japan, then the notification will be sent to the proxy contact. 2. There is no notice posted to announce the results. 3. Absolutely no response will be given to inquiries related to the pass or fail judgment by telephone or other. However, please contact the Admissions Office if the notification has still not arrived when three days have passed from the announcement of the results. In this case, the applicant must inquire in person. VII Entrance procedures If an applicant has been successful, then together with the notification of the pass result, we will also send the documents necessary for the entrance procedures and the Guide to Entrance Procedures that describes matters such as the method for the entrance procedures. Follow the procedure methods described in the Guide to Entrance Procedures and complete the necessary procedures (Step 1 procedures and Step 2 procedures) within the periods shown below. 1. Period for procedures (1) Step 1 procedures November 15, 2017 (Wednesday) to November 24, 2017 (Friday) (2) Step 2 procedures November 15, 2017 (Wednesday) to January 18, 2018 (Thursday) 2. Method for procedures It is possible to pay only the amount equivalent to the entrance fee during the period for the Step 1 procedures and then to pay the remaining amount of the entrance procedure payment excluding the amount equivalent to the entrance fee during the period for the Step 2 procedures. It is also possible to perform both the Step 1 procedures and Step 2 procedures simultaneously during the period for the Step 1 procedures (payment in one single payment). If the Step 1 procedures are not completed then it is not possible to perform the Step 2 procedures. - 4 -

[Please note] It will not be possible to grant permission to enter the University to any person who has not completed the procedures during the period for entrance procedures (persons who have not paid all the entrance procedure payment). 3. Notes regarding entrance When entering the university, students whose status of residence has been Pre-college student or other must change this to College student. Also, even if the status of residence is College student, if the period of stay expires before the entry into the University, then renewal procedures are necessary. The applicant must always perform these procedures in person at the Immigration Bureau before entrance to the university. When you need The Admission Permit required for these procedures, please contact us. We will be sent from the University when the entrance procedures have been completed. Also, after obtaining the status of residence of College Student, please submit a copy of your Residence Card, Certificate of Alien Registration or passport to the Setsunan University International Center by March 31, 2018 (Saturday). If these procedures are not completed, then it will not be possible to receive preferential treatment such as the payment of scholarships. [Please note] Details of this will be explained in the Guide to Entrance Procedures sent together with the notification of the results. VIII Declining entrance The University will not return any entrance procedure payment that has been paid or entrance procedure document that has been submitted. However, after the payment is made, persons who wish to decline the entrance to the University for unavoidable reasons should send or bring the Notification of intention to decline entrance and receipt to the Admissions Office so that they arrive by 17:00 on Saturday March 31, 2018. In this case only, the entrance procedure payment (including the various membership fees) minus the amount equivalent to the entrance fee will be refunded. Further details will be explained in the Guide to Entrance Procedures sent together with the notification of the results. The entrance fee and entrance procedure documents will not be returned even if the procedures to decline the entrance are completed by the deadline shown below for the notification of intention to decline entrance. Deadline for notification of intention to decline entrance 17:00 on Saturday March 31, 2018 (All documents must arrive or be submitted at the university by this time.) [Please notes] 1. The entrance procedures payment (including various membership fees) cannot be refunded if the arrival or submission at the university of the Notification of intention to decline entrance is after 17:00 on Saturday, March 31, 2018. 2. The details will be explained in the Guide to Entrance Procedures. IX Handling personal information Regarding the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Personal Information Protection Law), the University works based on the Personal Information Protection Policy of this educational foundation and has prepared various regulations for the protection of personal information. We recognize that the protection of the personal information held by the University is a major responsibility and we are making every effort to ensure that it is protected. 1. Purpose of use The personal information obtained by the university such as addresses and names will be used for the procedures from the application for to the implementation of the entrance examinations and for the procedures from the announcement of the results up until the registration as a student. It will also be used for the provision of information that the university judges to be necessary for starting the education and research at the university and student life at the university (such as guidance on welfare issues such as accommodation and insurance) and it will be used for the sending of materials, etc., for education before entering the university. It will also be used to perform statistical analysis. In the execution of this work in line with the purpose of use, the personal information within the scope necessary may be communicated to a subcontracted business with whom a non-disclosure agreement has been concluded. In this case, the university will supervise the subcontracted party to ensure that the personal information concerned is not handled inappropriately, for example, information lost, damaged, - 5 -

destroyed, modified or leaked. 2. The disclosure of unsuccessful applicants entrance examination results Only the entrance examination results of unsuccessful applicants will be disclosed. (Please note that the initial document screening results will not be disclosed.) For those who wish to request their results, the request form will be provided with the request procedure during the Inquiry Period specified below. For those who wish to request their results during the Disclosure Request Acceptance Period specified below, please call the Admission Division (Nyuushibu) (tel: +81-72-839-9104). The request procedure will be provided in advance for these applicants. Basic policy regarding the protection of personal information For further details of the basic policy of Setsunan University regarding the protection of personal information, please either refer to the University s website (http://www.setsunan.ac.jp) or contact the Admissions Office. X Other information (1) Regarding the system of scholarships within the University (Scope: Students with the status of residence of College student) The University has a system of scholarships for privately financed international students who have the desire to study but lack the funding for school expenses. (Selective system) Guidance on the details of this will be sent to successful applicants. (2) System for reducing tuition fees (Scope: Students with the status of residence of College student) The University has a system to reduce the tuition fees for privately financed international students who have a will to study but lack the funding for school expenses. (4) Accommodation The following accommodation has been prepared within the Neyagawa Campus. International House of Setsunan University (One-room apartment) - Rental fee: 50,000 yen per month (Does not include utility expenses) *A subsidy is supplied to international students. (15,000 yen per month) - Equipment included in room: bath, toilet, bed, desk, chair, bookshelf, refrigerator, washing machine, air conditioner, etc. - Shared equipment: Bicycle park, garbage area, mail boxes, etc. Entrance may be decided by lottery if the number of applicants is large. Academic Year 2018 International Student Entrance Examination Procedures for Sitting Examinations 1. Entering the university on the examination day (1) The gate will be opened at 8:00 a.m. (2) Applicants who have forgotten their Examination admission ticket should report to the Admissions Office (7th floor, Building 7). 2. Notes regarding the examinations (1) Applicants should be seated in the seat for your examination number in the examination room specified for you at least 20 minutes before the start of each examination and place your Examination admission ticket in front of the desk number shown on the top of the desk. (2) The only items allowed on the desk are your Examination admission ticket, black HB pencils (including mechanical pencils), erasers, pencil sharpeners, clocks, glasses, eye drops and masks. (The use of a pair of compasses, ruler, underlay sheet, fountain pen or pencil case are not permitted.) (3) Ball point pens and clocks, etc., that have a calculation function or translation function may not be brought into the room. (4) After entering the room, switch off your smartphone or mobile phone, etc. (It is not possible to use it as a clock.)
