1 SITREP NO-113/2013 1700 hours No.32-20/2013-NDM-I Ministry of Home Affairs (Disaster Management Division) Dated 21 st Sept., 2013 Subject: SOUTHWEST MONSOON-2013: DAILY FLOOD SITUATION REPORT SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON 21.09.2013 RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY Rain/thundershowers occurred at many places along west coast, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at a few places over Uttar Pradesh and interior Karnataka and at isolated places over rest of the country outside Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat where weather remained mainly dry/dry. The amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of yesterday were : Mayabandar-14; Long Island-6; Mangalore (Panambur)-5; Basirhat-4 and Hoshangabad, Pachmarhi, Nagpur, Gwalior, Delhi (Palam), Gopalpur and Cannur-2 each..indian Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast) Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places along west coast and over east Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Rain/ thundershowers would occur at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Haryana & Delhi and rest peninsular India. Weather would be mainly dry over rest parts of the country. CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level forecast sites) There is 01 Moderate flood situation sites in the country as on 21.09.2013. DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) 23 teams of NDRF consisting of 838 personnel have been deployed in Assam (5), West Bengal (2), Odisha (2), Maharashtra (3), Uttarakhand (2), Bihar (7), Karnataka (1) and A.P (1), The disposition of deployment of NDRF in Bihar is as under: Muzaffarpur, (Bihar)- 01 team consisting of 39 personnel.

Samastipur (Bihar)-01 team consisting of 36 personnel. Begusarai (Bihar)- 01 teams consisting of 35 personnel. Bhagalpur (Bihar) -01 team consisting of 45 personnel. Munger (Bihar) -01 team consisting of 45 personnel. Supaul, (Bihar) - 01 team of 34 personnel. Gaya, (Bihar) - 01 team of 41 personnel. 2 These teams in Bihar are assisting the civil administration in rescue and relief operations. INDIAN METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT (daily weather report) Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places along west coast and over east Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Rain/ thundershowers would occur at many places over Chhattisgarh and north Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours and decrease thereafter. Rain/ thundershowers would occur at a few places over east Rajasthan and Gujarat region during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. Warning 21 September: Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 22 September: Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, north Madhya Maharashtra and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 23 September: heavy rain would occur at isolated places over west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Konkan & Goa, north Madhya Maharashtra and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Weather outlook for subsequent 4 days Rain/ thundershower would occur at many places over Gujarat region, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Rain/ thundershower would occur at few places over rest eastern states, northeastern states, Chhattisgarh and Lakshadweep. Rain/ thundershowers would occur at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan and peninsular India. Mainly dry weather over rest parts of the country.

3 CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level at forecast sites) According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 21 st September 2013, there is 01 Moderate flood situation sites in the country: River Baitarni at Akhuapada, district Bhadrak, Odisha is flowing at 17.85m against the danger level of 17.83m with Falling trend. DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) ON 21 st September 2013 01 team consisting of 22 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Guwahati, Kamrup Assam for training and emergency response. 01 team consisting of 36 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Tinsukia (Assam) for emergency response during flood. 01 team consisting of 36 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Dhemaji, Assam for flood Rescue, relief and emergency. 01 team consisting of 38 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Sonitpur, Assam for flood rescue, relief and emergency. 01 team consisting of 36 personnel of 1 Bn, NDRF deployed at Gohpur (Sonitpur), Assam due to flood like situation. 01 team consisting of 35 personnel of 2 nd Bn, NDRF deployed at Malda (West Bengal) in connection with Monsoon deployment. 01 team consisting of 36 personnel of 2 nd Bn, NDRF deployed at Mainaguri (West Bengal) in connection with prevailing flood situation in Tista River. 01 team consisting of 41 personnel of 3 rd Bn NDRF deployed at Jajpur (Odisha) for flood rescue and relief. 01 team consisting of 40 personnel of 3 rd Bn NDRF deployed at Bhadrak (Odisha) for flood rescue and relief. 03 teams consisting of 85 personnel of 5 th Bn, NDRF deployed at Mumbai (Maharashtra) as pre-positioning for Monsoon. 02 teams consisting of 79 personnel of 8 th Bn, NDRF deployed at Dehradun/Guptkashi/Kedarnath (Uttarakhand) for rescue and relief operation. 01 team consisting of 39 personnel of 9 th Bn NDRF deployed at Muzaffarpur, (Bihar) prepositioning deployment for monsoon season. 01 team consisting of 36 personnel of 9 th Bn NDRF deployed at Samastipur (Bihar) for flood rescue and relief. 01 teams consisting of 35 personnel of 9 th Bn, NDRF deployed at Begusarai (Bihar) for rescue of flood affected area. 01 team consisting of 45 personnel of 9 th Bn, NDRF deployed at Bhagalpur (Bihar) for flood Rescue Relief & FAMEX/CAP. 01 team consisting of 45 personnel of 9 th Bn, NDRF deployed at Munger (Bihar) for flood Rescue and Relief. 01 team consisting of 34 personnel of 9 th Bn NDRF deployed at Supaul, Patna (Bihar) for Flood, Rescue Relief. 01 team consisting of 41 personnel of 9 th Bn NDRF deployed at district-gaya (Bihar) in c/w Pitrapaksh Mela.
