Jo was engaged throughout the lessons either taking notes or developing pupils throwing and catching techniques. Well done for putting lots of effort into the PE lessons! Beth Redmond: St Benedicts: Beth has done extremely well this term. She has clearly developed her knowledge and understanding of football and also, how to adapt and modify practices to suit her year 1 class. I have seen her confidence grow throughout the term which has also helped to motivate and increase interest with pupils- well done Beth!! Jolanta: St Michaels: It is fair to say that Jolanta certainly has her hands full with her reception class. However, throughout this term Jolanta has taken on advice regarding how to monitor behaviour within PE, how to make an area more visual, and how to keep pupils attention with fundamental skills and games. Jolanta has been eager and keen to get as much out of the support as possible and to ask for advice where and when she can. Well done Jolanta! The WINNER of the GSP Teacher of the Term, for Terms 4 & 5 is BETH REDMOND FROM ST BENEDICTS PRIMARY SCHOOL. Well done to Beth and also all the nominees keep up the hard work. Vikki Bell Sports Partnership Manager GREENACRE SPORTS PARTNERSHIP PRIMARY FOOTBALL LEAGUE This year, two leagues were formed to create the Medway Schools Primary Football League. The Premiership consisted of: Balfour, Horsted, Lordswood, Hoo St Werburgh, Oaklands, Swingate, Burnt Oak and Delce and the Championship consisted of: St Thomas More, St Marys, Walderslade, Warren Wood, St Benedicts, Wayfield, Kingfisher & St Michaels. All of the schools in each league played each other for overall and final placing in each of the leagues. The final league tables are as follows: Premiership Position Team P W D L F A GD Pts 1 Balfour 7 7 0 0 39 5 34 21 2 Horsted 7 3 3 1 13 11 2 12 3 Lordswood 7 3 2 2 25 18 7 11 4 Hoo St Werburgh 7 3 2 2 16 16 0 11 5 Oaklands 7 3 1 3 15 18-3 10 6 Burnt Oak 7 2 2 3 15 14 1 8 7 Swingate 7 2 0 5 11 25-14 6 8 Delce 7 0 0 7 11 38-27 0 CHAMPIONship Position Team P W D L F A GD Pts 1 St Thomas More 7 7 0 0 54 6 48 21 2 St Marys 7 5 1 1 30 20 10 16 3 Walderslade 7 5 1 1 23 13 10 16 4 Warren Wood 7 3 0 4 28 32-4 9 5 St Benedicts 7 3 0 4 22 31-9 9 6 Wayfield 7 2 0 5 18 38-20 6 7 Kingfisher 7 1 0 6 19 34-15 3 8 St Michaels 7 1 0 6 15 35-20 3 Additionally and to show our support for Medway Schools District FA, we worked together and ran a Medway District Cup Competition this year. All schools in both leagues were entered into this cup and games were draw randomly as a knockout competition. Eventually, Oaklands & Horsted progressed into the 3rd/4th play off whilst league newcomers, Hoo St Werburgh and ever consistent Balfour were due to play in the final. The 3rd/4th place play off was a very good game in which spectators were entertained by two very well taken goals. The final score was: Oakalnds (2) v Horsted (0). In the history of the Medway Schools Primary Football League, this years final was the most entertaining yet!! Balfour took an early league which was cancelled out by a Hoo St Werburgh equaliser. Kphora who also plays for Medway U11 s showed his class and scored yet another goal. Balfour sat back for the final minute of the game which allowed Hoo St Werburgh to apply pressure and score an equaliser with under a minute to play. The game resarted from the middle and extra time and the possibility of penalties loomed. With just over fifteen seconds to play; Balfour continued to press forward and their perserverance was rewarded with another goal and the game finished - Hoo St Werburgh (2) v Balfour (3). Finally, a big thank you to Becks Barr from Warren Wood Primary Academy for organising the league this year.
