Sunday: Creative Writing Society of Dubai (Gr. 6,7,8) Student will write creative stories and/or poetry, as they learn to discover their voices and follow their hearts through the beautiful power of the written and spoken word. At the end of the term, the students will exhibit selected pieces in either a literary journal or an open mic performance. Activity Supervisor(s): Ms. Garrett Location/Room: 1103 2. Sunday: Joy of Movement: Yoga (Gr. 6,7,8) Join us for a fun Sunday afternoon session. Yoga develops a strong and flexible body, increases balance, body awareness and coordination. Sunday: Jumpboxx- Sports Mania (Gr. 7,8) Students learn how to jump - bouncing, stop bouncing, arm action, front drop, twisting moves, tuck, pike...jump around we will also play games of dodgeball, basketball, team games, relays and always finish with a free jump for everyone. We provide customizable programs to help enhance the individual s strength, technical, physical and tactical approach to the sport. Monday: Middle School Girls Basketball (Gr. 6,7,8) Open Gym style basketball working on fundamentals, and some fun games! We will possibly split according to ability level so even if you've never played please come have some fun on the court! 10. Monday: Mileage Club (Gr. 6,7,8) Be active! Walk, skip, jog, or run around the track with your friends. Your laps will be tallied. Monday: National Geographic films- in Arabic (Gr. 6,7,8) Students will be watching Arabic documentaries from the National Geographic. Monday: Scorpions in the kitchen (Gr. 7,6,8) Students will learn how to prepare healthy dishes that taste amazing! 13. Wednesday: ADT! (Art Design and Technology) (Art Design and Technology) Come join ADT! In this activity we will be creating fun and exciting ART, DESIGN and TECHNOLOGY projects! We will use a variety of art materials such as oil pastels, watercolors, chalk, clay, wire, beads, tempera paint and recycled items to create 2D and 3D masterpieces! We will also dive into the world of design and technology by creating jewelry, small vehicles and utilizing photography. Creativity is emphasized! Fun is required! Location/Room: 1117 Maximum number of students: 15 14. Wednesday: Cut n paste - Collages @ PLAY (Gr. 6,7,8) Collage has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity during the twenty-first century, resulting in an explosion of creativity. Collage, is an artistic technique that combines diverse elements as a whole, sometimes it breathes surrealism, on others, vanguard, but it always contains a fusion of free intentions to be interpreted by the observer. During this ASA, students will look into magazines, sort out papers, typography, bring material from their personal collections (photos ), use handy supplies for collages like canvas frames and Mod Podge, and we will lay everything out on our production platforms and simply dive in Much fun is foreseen hunting through all the papers, colors, images, textures, searching for that one piece that speak to us and serve as the foundation for our collage. Each ASArtist will create a new piece on each session, culminating in a collective digital portfolio and an end of the year exhibition. This ASA is designed as a great visual inspiration for art lovers and for those who appreciate to transform the old into the new, the unexpected Activity Supervisor(s): Mr. Lefort Location/Room: 2212 Maximum number of students: 16 15. Wednesday: Gymnastics (Gr. 6,7,8) We offer a general gymnastics course to introduce basic gymnastic skills whilst working on the individuals strength, stamina and suppleness in a safe and controlled environment. You will learn the key tricks needed in today s dancing world from walk overs to aerial work! Exercises developing or displaying physical agility and coordination. The modern sport of gymnastics typically involves exercises on floor, beam, bars and vaulting horse. 16. Wednesday: Le rendez-vous des francophones! (Gr. 6,7,8) You speak French and you would like to be able to continue after school? It is a great opportunity to practice your French! The Club Francophone at U.A.S promotes the French language and culture around campus. This shall be done through French oriented events and activities that will occur on campus. This will allow you an opportunity to meet other French- speaking students and even brush up on your French vocabulary! Therefore, if you enjoy watching French films, listening to music, eating Francophone food, playing French games then this is a great occasion for you to join the club. Hope to see you soon! Wednesday: Million Solar Stars (Gr. 8) Million Solar Stars is bringing solar power to UAS and beyond! Initially, students will create digital media posters, presentations, and short imovies to raise awareness for solar. Digital media productions will help raise awareness and funding for UAS to utilize one of the most widespread, renewable resources in the region - SOLAR POWER! Activity Supervisor(s): Mr. Hall Location/Room: MS - 1104 Maximum number of students: 20 18. Wednesday: Rock Climbing (Gr. 6,7,8) Explore the highest outdoor climbing wall in the U.A.E. Note*There will be a one way bus departing the school at 3:15- PARENTS MUST PICK THEIR CHILD UP FROM SHEIKH ZAYED RD.
