We appreciate Rep. Cook for his insight and for the work he does to help public education. Thank you to Mrs. Mason s Culinary Arts students for preparing a delicious lunch for the group. Palestine ISD adopted a new five year plan, Vision 2020, last year. Some of the Vision 2020 goals include increasing teacher pay/benefits and providing year-round services for students. In an effort to help the district meet Vision 2020 goals, the district has begun the process of becoming a District of Innovation, an option that was passed by the 84th Legislative Session in House Bill 1842 which allows for increased flexibility in certain areas. District administrators and I look forward to Lunches in the Lounge in the coming weeks where we will talk more about the District of Innovation process. We want to come up with a plan that allows for academic growth in PISD, as well as further compensation and benefits for staff. Report cards for the first six weeks have gone out, and students are already busy on second six weeks assignments. I hope everyone has a great six weeks! Wildcat Weekly from the Superintendent: Jason Marshall Wildcat Nation Palestine ISD has a new monthly publication coming soon, in addition to the Wildcat Weekly newsletter. The new publication, Wildcat Nation is currently under production by the PHS Broadcast Journalism/Printing & Imaging Department.
