Statement of Purpose Together we are working to build a strong partnership by engaging students, staff, families and the community at large to achieve their greatest potential. Our policy outlines the ways we will help inspire our students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for their continuing education and future academic success. Annual Title 1 Meeting Building of Academic Family Involvement Sharing responsibility for student learning ensures that all stakeholders, including parents/ guardians and students themselves are engaged in ways that promote and support student success. Catalina High School will provide ample opportunities to involve families and students with appropriate language support. Catalina staff and parents can receive a copy of the Title 1 budget information. Along with presenting the services provided through Title 1 funding and mandates, information will be shared through the Catalina High School website and through mailings. Annual Title 1 meeting will be held, October 23rd from 5:00-6:00 pm. Dinner will be served. Call 232-8406 to RSVP. Annual Evaluation The TUSD Title 1 Office will verify annually the progress made toward achieving the goals and expected results of the school s parent involvement policy. Flexible Meeting Times and Locations As requested, school personnel will provide a variety of meeting times and locations for activities to serve all families along with one-to-one meetings as needed.
Welcoming Every Family And Student We will strive to develop relationships with all families and students. Catalina High School will provide Freshman Orientation, Open House, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Grade Level Parent Meetings. Students will be encouraged to participate in the many sports, fine arts, and clubs available to them. The school will host a Taste of Catalina to embrace the many cultures of our community. Speaking Up for Every Student We will help develop family and student capacity as effective advocates. We will provide information on student discipline, Students Rights & Responsibilities, McKinney-Vento Homeless support, the complaint process, Drop-Out Prevention, IEP s &504 s services for Exceptional Ed & Health Impairment issues. Supporting Student Success We will help to develop families abilities to seek appropriate academic resources. We will encourage parent participation at Parent/Teacher conferences and review the Compact and Success Plan, to establish educational goals for each student. Teachers and support staff will provide afterschool tutoring and AIMS Prep tutoring. We will encourage parent and student access to TUSD STATS. Sharing Power /Responsibility Communicating Effectively We will provide timely and informative school communications through emails, phone calls, newsletters, calendars, school/teacher/parent compacts, flyers, and daily or weekly announcements. Information is available in both English and Spanish to meet the needs of our diverse population. For those families requiring translation in any other language, an interpreter will be provided. We will work to develop parent and student leadership, hold annual Title 1 meetings, and review the Parent Policy and Compact to update revisions. Participation and membership will be highly encouraged through or Parent Involvement Questionnaire. We will continue to share decisions making through our Site Council and DAC (District Advisory Council) meetings of which all are welcome, and high encouraged to attend.
Collaborating with the Community and Volunteers We will seek to strengthen families and student success as we partner with community resources, volunteers, alumni and businesses.
