Presentation Outline Background Proposed Catchment Areas Proposed Feeder Schools Closer look/discussion/feedback form

Background School catchment areas are rarely permanent. Each school has a limited capacity and the neighbourhood that it serves is constantly changing. Changing demographics and other community changes can affect the enrolment of a school. Periodically the Board of Education will review school enrolments relative to catchment areas and make changes to boundaries where necessary. The goal of these changes is to ensure that each school has an appropriate student enrolment level to maintain quality educational programs supported by appropriate staffing levels.

When Would These Proposed Changes Take Effect? Once approved by the Board, the adjusted catchment areas would take effect September 2010 for new registering students. Students currently attending schools would not be affected. The Batchelor/Westmount/Westsyde change will become effective September 2011.
