Amendments Apply to middle level only ML #1 3.3.0 Private middle school could become members for one sport with the approval of the league in which they would participate. ML #2 18.16.0 Removes salvage and utilizes school enrollment only for 5th grade participation at the middle level. ML #3 18.17.0 Removes salvage and utilizes school enrollment only for 6th grade participation at the middle level.
Amendments cont. Apply to both middle level and high school level ML/HS #4 18.19.0 1B and 2B high schools may utilize 8th graders to salvage both team and individual sports programs if squad sizes are at or below specified numbers. ML/HS #5 18.19.0 Removes salvage and allows 1B schools to utilize 8th graders to participate in any high school program. ML/HS #6 51.5.0, 51.65.0 Pitching limitation will be based upon pitch count (rather than innings) ML/HS #7 57.2.3 Following the first contest, football players will be limited to two (2) contact practices per week excluding contests. ML/HS #8 66.2.0, 66.62.0 Wrestlers may wear a one-piece singlet or a two-piece outfit consisting of close-fitting shorts and a short-sleeved compression top.
Amendments cont. Apply to high school level only HS #9 4.3.0 Schools must opt up one classification if free/reduced lunch rate is 15% or lower; schools may opt down one classification if free/reduced lunch rate is 60% or higher. HS #10 17.5.8 High school basketball coaches may coach feeder school participants during the school district s winter break. HS #11 17.5.8D Allows a coach, once every three years, to coach a team invited to participate in a national championship event with conditions determined by the Association. HS # 12 18.6.0.D6 If enrolled at a private school for at least one year prior to attending running start, and meeting private school attendance requirements, student continues to be eligible to compete for the private school. HS# 18.11.4.B International students in 1B and 2B schools will be allowed to participate on varsity in their first year when subvarsity programs are not.
