National Soccer team, African Wanderers Football Club and Durban City Football Club. Recipient of the Nation s highest Soccer Accolade the State President s Award for Soccer in 1978. Natal Colts (U19) Cricket team 1969. I have been truly blessed with the opportunity of leading Glenwood Preparatory School for the past 13 years. Backed by a fully committed and professional staff and Governing Body, significant strides have been made to ensure that the school remains a front runner in all aspects of education. We endeavour each day, to fulfil our motto as The School that Cares and our motivated staff create the best possible environment for our pupils to thrive. ACADEMICS & FACILITIES Glenwood Prep is recognised as one of KZN s Top Academic Institutions. Our enthusiastic and motivated staff team, is backed up by attractive facilities and a relevant and innovative academic programme. Budding academics are offered the opportunity of extension classes, whilst the Remedial Department provides support, where needed. Glenwood Prep pupils participate in Amesa Maths, Semas Maths, Conquesta Olympiads and International Board Test (IBT) external examinations. SCIENCE CENTRE A well-equipped Science Centre provides our budding Scientists with the necessary facility, to develop a love and passion for this important subject. A practical and hands on approach, assists in developing a passion for the subject. GLENWOOD PREP HOMEWORK PERIOD A unique innovation, which in the last half hour of the school academic day, allows pupils (under the supervision of their teacher), to commence their homework within the confines of their classroom. HOMEWORK CLUB The Homework Club is run by dedicated teachers and provides pupils with the ideal opportunity, to complete their daily homework tasks within the parameter of the school. This facility operates from 14:00-17:00 (daily) and assists pupils and their parents in enjoying additional family quality time at home. TRUST-AFTERCARE CENTRE Excellent facilities allow pupils to be accommodated from 13:00-17:15 in the afternoons.

ACADEMICS, ACHIEVEMENTS & FACILITIES MEDIA CENTRE The Heart and Soul of the School s Academic Program. An attractive and stimulating environment, that ensures the development of reading and research skills,thus contributing to the creation of independent, high achieving pupils. The well-resourced centre also offers extra mural Writing and Book Clubs, as well as Literature Quiz and General Knowledge Extension Societies. BOOK CLUB Avid readers are encouraged to join the Media Centre s Book Club, which focuses their reading on exciting, appropriate children s literature. Club members also enjoy the challenge of competing in the D&D Annual Literature Quiz and the Kearsney General Knowledge Competition. WRITING CLUB Run by the Media Centre Staff, this club provides pupils with the insight to develop their skills in the art of written communication. Glenwood Preparatory pupils recently excelled in the Books and Books Poetry Competition, whilst Writing Club members have published a number of novels. COMPUTER CENTRE Glenwood Prep possesses a State of the Art Computer facility, which is greatly enjoyed by all the pupils. Under the astute guidance of the I.T. Specialist, the pupils are given every opportunity to master the skills that this exciting discipline offers.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES Glenwood Prep pupils enjoy the facilities and opportunities, to pursue a wide variety of cultural activities. Regular theatrical productions, Modern and Contemporary Dance, Ballet and the learning of a variety of musical instruments, provide enjoyment and fun to the many children who enjoy this extensive programme. ART CLUB The Art Club gives all our budding artists the opportunity of developing their creative artistic talents. CHESS ACHIEVEMENTS Glenwood Prep is renowned for its high standard of Chess. Beginners and Intermediate Chess classes are offered to novices, whilst the advanced team squads are given every opportunity to excel. SENIOR CHOIR The Glenwood Preparatory Senior Primary Choir is well known for its entertainment value and regularly performs at various school and celebrity functions. One such occasion was King Goodwill Zwelithini s 60th Birthday Celebration, held at the Sibaya Casino Resort. DEBATING TEAM The Glenwood Preparatory community is passionate about Debating and Public Speaking. Inter-house Debates are enjoyed by all the pupils, whilst the inter-school teams excel in the Durban and District leagues. The confidence gained from Debating and Public Speaking, plays a significant role in the overall development of the pupils.

SPORT NETBALL Glenwood Preparatory girls have the unique opportunity of having the S.A. Women s National Action Netball Coach as their guiding mentor. As such, the girls enjoy the benefits of a top class Netball programme, resulting in numerous Glenwood Preparatory netballers featuring in KZN Selection teams. Glenwood Prep has been adjudged to be the top Durban and District Action Netball School for the past 3 years. RUGBY Glenwood Prep has a proud rugby tradition and hosts an annual National U13 Rugby Tournament. The boys enjoy the benefit of a Rugby Academy which equips them with the skills needed to both enjoy and achieve in the game. Glenwood Preparatory is viewed as one of KZN s top rugby schools. SWIMMING One of S.A s leading swimming clubs, i.e. Action Swim Academy, is based at Glenwood Preparatory. This coaching expertise and the use of a heated Aquatic Centre has enabled the school s swimmers to excel in this discipline. CRICKET Glenwood Preparatory boys thoroughly enjoy the benefits of participating in a well organised and professional cricket programme. Excellent cricket facilities and a dedicated coaching team, ensure that all the boys are given the opportunity to enjoy the game of cricket. Glenwood Prep pupils, feature regularly in the various provincial KZN teams.

HOCKEY The various mini-astro facilities offered at Glenwood Prep, support the mass participation that is experienced in the school hockey programme. In addition, Glenwood Prep has extended use of Queensmead Hockey Astro, for both practice sessions and home fixtures. The Annual Dads vs. Lads and Moms vs. Daughters fixture and Family Braai, concludes the extensive hockey season programme. ATHLETICS SPORTS DAY The Annual Athletics Sports Day is enjoyed by the Glenwood Preparatory family, with the pupils representing their houses, with great pride and honour! Various individual sprint and distance races are accompanied by inter-house relay and Tug-o-war events. Not to be outdone, Dads and Moms also enjoy the fun, that the parents races provide!

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS The effectiveness of the Glenwood Preparatory Academic, Sporting and Cultural programmes, are reflected by the significant number of pupils who regularly attain scholarships to various High Schools. Seen above are the 26 Glenwood Preparatory Pupils who attained High School Scholarships for 2013. This number was increased to 30 for the 2014 High School Academic year.

WE TICK ALL THE BOXES! 2010 National A.N.A Results - Glenwood Prep identified as a School of Academic Excellence. 2012/13 Conquesta Olympiads - Maths and English. Glenwood Prep - Top 2% finish out of 1450 Southern African Schools. 2013 3 Glenwood Preparatory pupils represented KZN in the World Primary Schools Maths Problem Solving Competition in Hong Kong. 2013 Top KZN School - AMESA Maths Problem Solving competition. Chess 2013 - Top 3 Finish - Durban & District Chess Championship. Debating 2008-2013 - Excellent Debating Team Results. We love public speaking! Art Club Fully extends our creative, artistic pupils. School Choirs Our talented and enthusiastic Junior and Senior Choirs, perform regularly. Music Over 150 budding young musicians - violin, guitar and piano. Regular representation in the KZN U13, Craven Week Rugby Team. Glenwood Prep - A top cricket school - Regular KZN representation at U11 and U13 level. 2012, 2013 - Winners of Durban & District A Division Girls Gala. 2012, 2013 - Top 4 Finish - Durban & District A Division Boys Gala. 2014 - We host an Annual National Netball Tournament. 2008-2013 - in top 3 of KZN Netball Schools. 2009-2013 - Durban & District s top Action Netball School. We field over 60 hockey teams - An extensive hockey programme. The annual JP and SP athletics meetings, are the highlight. The Academic, Cultural and Sporting facilities, are truly outstanding. Our pupils enjoy an all encompassing educational programme, which fully equips them for the challenges that high school will present.
