Extensive courses start in January, April, June and September; Saturday classes in January, April and September. Intensive summer courses begin in June and in July. Each course consists of 54 teaching units (1 TU = 45 minutes). Along with in-class learning, you will be assigned homework. If you have prior knowledge of German, please ask for a placement test. Beginners start with the course A 1.1 Our course brochure illustration is by artist Tina Berning and is part of a series commissioned by the Goethe-Institut which focusses on various cities in Germany. This particular illustration highlights the revitalized waterfront district in the city of Hamburg. www.goethe.de/hamburg

GERMAN COURSES FOR TEENAGERS AND CHILDREN We also offer courses for teenagers. Course content and teaching methods in our classes for teenagers are especially suitable for the age group 13-17. Classes for absolute beginners, students with previous knowledge of German, and students who are already at an A2/B1 level will be scheduled once a week on Fridays, 75 minutes per class, for 15 weeks. In order to attend our childrens class, we require some previous knowledge of German. The course is geared towards children between the ages of 7-10 and takes place Friday afternoons. BLENDED LEARNING If you want to learn German quickly, we recommend that you enroll in a blended learning program. Our blended learning courses are composed of roughly equal amounts of in-class (60 teaching units) and online learning. You will meet twice a week for in-class instruction and work on the online components of the course for about 5 hours per week on the Goethe- Institut s password-protected learning platform. The online components can be done at your convenience within a week and are considered part of the course. This program allows you to finish one level (A 1, A 2 or B 1) in 10 weeks. SPECIAL COURSES To complement the general language courses you could enroll in a special course. In our special courses you can practice certain skills such as conversing, writing and applying correct grammar structures, as well as perfecting your pronunciation, broadening your vocabulary, or acquiring special knowledge on German literature. Special courses consist of 27 teaching units and run over 9 weeks. The course «Conversation C 1+» is an exception with 12 sessions once a week and consists of 24 teaching units. ONE-ON-ONE LESSONS Would you like to perfect a particular skill (reading, listening, speaking, writing)? Do you have some difficulties in applying certain grammar rules? Do you need extra help with your preparation for a German language test? Would you like to learn German at your own speed? Then one-on-one lessons are the right choice for you. We will arrange the days and times of your lessons to fit your busy schedule. Your assigned teacher will design the classes according to your wishes and needs and will develop a lesson plan considering your previous knowledge and your goals. Purchase one meeting (90 minutes) or a whole package.
