St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School Cold Weather Wear (Excerpt from the Parent and Student Handbook) Cold Weather Wear the following items are acceptable: SMM Monogrammed Fleece jacket Navy Blue Monogrammed Sweatshirt Plain Navy Blue Sweater Plain Navy Blue Sweatshirt Navy Blue Slacks White, black, or navy tights or leggings may be worn on very cold days under the uniform shorts, jumper, skirt or skort. Navy Blue Sweatpants may be worn on PE days. Plain white turtleneck shirts or plain white long sleeve shirts can be worn underneath the uniform shirt on very cold days. Grade 8 only: Eighth Grade Sweatshirt Jackets: The sweatshirt or sweater is the first line of defense on cold weather days. A jacket may be worn over the uniform sweatshirt or sweater on very cold days. The jacket may be worn outside, over the sweatshirt, and must be removed in the classroom. The following jackets are not allowed: jean jackets, trench coats, or army jackets. Hats and scarves may not be worn or carried during school hours. Appropriate hats and scarves may be worn on extremely cold days.

Bishop Thomas J. Grady Council 5618 All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The competition will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 registration starting promptly at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Mary Magdalen School gym. The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually with winners progressing through local, district and state competition. International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions. All boys and girls 9 to 14 years old are eligible to participate and will compete in respective age divisions. Last year more than 120,000 sharpshooters participated in over 3,600 local competitions. All contestants on a local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and parental consent. The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with more than 1.8 million members in more than 15,000 local councils. Last year the Knights donated more than 70 million volunteer hours and $170 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.

SMMCS Junior High Spring Musical for Grades 6, 7, 8 Fall down the rabbit hole with Alice as she journeys through Wonderland, growing and shrinking along the way. She ll have a very mad tea party, meet the Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat, play croquet with the Queen of Hearts and more in this colorful adaptation of the Disney classic. FREE AUDITION WORKSHOP JANUARY 10: Open to all students in grades 6-8 who are interested in trying out for a role. Workshop will be in the annex from dismissal until 5pm (students should report to the cafeteria following dismissal and will then be escorted to the annex). AUDITIONS JANUARY 12: All students will receive a part in the play. Auditions will be for specific roles. Students will sign up for an audition time slot between dismissal and 5pm. Auditions will take place in the annex. Calling all students in grades K through 5: Come join us in our fabulous spring musical! Join Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera and the rest of the characters in this beloved Disney musical as they swing through the jungle on their way to the Man Village. Filled with jazzy songs and fun dialogue, this musical is sure to be a blast! Tuition $125 (payable in installments due 1/19 and 3/23) Rehearsals are Thursdays beginning January 19 from dismissal until 4:30pm and are held in the annex. Each student will receive a CD of the music and a script. Performance is May 12 at 7pm also in the Parish Life Center. Tickets $3. The Performance will be on May 12 at 7pm in the Parish Life Center. Tickets will be available at the door for $3. Miss Skye will provide the majority of each child s costume. Parents will only be asked to provide things already in their child s closet (example: dark pants, a white shirt, etc.).
