AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS WINTER 2018 PAGE 2 MONDAYS: MULTI-SPORTS Fitness and fun! Come out and play all kinds of gym games and sports from Volleyball to Tennis and Basketball to Badminton and more! This is a fun way to play and learn new games and play your favorite sports. MP M1 Gr. K 5 Mon 3-4 Gym Jan 15 - Feb 26 5 $35 S.U.C.C.E.S.S. SCHOOLS OUT Program Goals: The goal of this program is to offer local neighborhood children a safe environment to express themselves freely through expressive arts, visual arts, and recreational activities. We hope these activities will help them develop a long lasting connection with their peers, school, and community. Attendance is for Mondays or Wednesdays not both Please contact Sarah Yoon at sunju.yoon@success.bc.ca for more information. **Applications will be taken at the school in person on December 19, 2017 at 2:45 pm in the school main entrance. A lottery will determine the spots in the program. Maximum 24 students 12 on Mondays and 12 on Wednesdays. Sarah Yoon is the worker who will give you information about the program. IMPROV AND THEATRE MAYHEM Drama is so important in boosting confidence, creativity and friendships. Professional Live Arts for Youth will be using this semester to play drama games, improv scenes and have some serous acting fun. Students will learn creative problem solving, design thinking and digital literacy through the game design process. Designed for young learners, this session begins with students learning to work in teams to create board games, design game art and sculpt player pieces. Students then learn essential digital literacy skills such as how to use a laptop, mouse and Unity3D software to create their own video games! The session will conclude with a Demo Day for students to showcase their creations to family and friends. All hardware, software and supplies are included. MP - T2 Gr. 3 5 Tues 3-4:30 Comp Lab Jan 16 Feb 27 7 $70 WEDNESDAYS: LET S DANCE Let`s have some fun learning some of the latest dance moves in hip-hop, jazz and learn to develop your own unique style. Put your moves together in a short routine you can perform at home or with friends to your favorite tunes. In the second half of the class we`ll learn some easy gymnastics on our tumbling mats. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS WINTER 2018 PAGE 4 THURSDAYS: HIP HOP AND DANCE In this high-energy, age-appropriate dance class, you ll learn fun hip hop and breakdance moves danced to some of your favorite music. Show off your moves to family and friends on the last day of class. All levels welcome. MP - TH1 Gr. K 5 Thurs 3-4 Gym Jan 18 March 1 7 $45 RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS Rhythmic Gymnastics is an elegant sport both in physique and performance. It involves the use of body movement with apparatus by throwing and catching the apparatus (rope, hoop, ball, ribbon, and clubs). Students will put the skills together in choreographed routines with music. MP - TH2 Gr. K 5 Thurs 4-5 Gym Jan 18 March 1 7 $45 MUSICAL THEATRE GLEE CLUB Practice the musical-theatre skills of acting, singing and dancing through fun games and exercises. We will focus on current pop songs and work together as a group. Combine your skills in a short piece and perform it on the last day of the program for family and friends. In partnership with Community Schools, Science AL!VE is proud to present our fun-filled hands-on science after-school programs for students from kindergarten to grade 5. Introduction to the amazing world of science, engineering, and technology through hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations led by our energetic, creative and expertly trained staff. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS WINTER 2018 PAGE 5 FRIDAYS: 3 D BASKETBALL Want to try out Basketball? 3D Basketball Academy is excited to introduce an after school program, that is fun and allows students to learn new skills. The program teaches athletes the necessary fundamentals required to succeed in the sport of basketball. Teaching basic skills and concepts through a series of progressive lesson plans, athletes learn the premise of sound decisionmaking and strategy. We will constantly challenge and encourage participants to improve your skills. MP - F1 Gr. 1 5 Fri 3-4 Gym Jan 19 March 2 5 $30 WINTER FUN ROBOTICS Don t get left out in the cold! Bring the winter fun indoors with interactive Bricks 4 Kidzmodels of some popular winter activities from the hair-raising thrill of the luge to more the relaxing pace of the horse and sleigh. We ll build the all-business snowplow as well as the all-fun snow mobile. And our winter theme wouldn t be complete without ice hockey and skiing. No snow? You can get instant confirmation of your spots in the programs you choose. You will require an email address in order to get your confirmation # and print out a receipt for your payment. To access the registration website please visit the Miller Park Community School Website then click on the Community Programs button on the homepage. If you do not wish to register online there is an option to register by filling out the paper registration forms. They are located at the Miller Park Community School main office. Please return complete forms and payments by cash or cheque made payable to Miller Park Community School. All registrations are on first come, first serve basis.
