Children who do not qualify for special education services may also be referred to the team. The problem solving process is a strategy available to the team. The Family Intervention Support Team provides support to children and families by offering school-based academic and behavioral interventions, home-based behavior consultation, home visits by a public health nurse, and/or by providing scholarship or transportation assistance for preschool. Overview of the Student Support Team procedures: The team meets weekly. Students are referred to the Early Childhood Student Support Team through doctor referrals, parent requests for evaluation, the Help Me Grow program, early childhood screening results, and preschool teacher referral.
