I. INTRODUCTION: BOARD OF APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING (SR), CHENNAI, is implementing the Graduate, Technician and Technician (Vocational) Apprenticeship training for the benefit of fresh Degree and Diploma holders in engineering apart from Vocational Higher Secondary Certificate holders, in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Union Territories of Puducherry and Lakshadweep. Presently, engineering education experiences exponential growth and large number of engineers are passing out, every year, especially in the southern states of India. But, the employment market for these passing out engineers are not encouraging, due to lack of employability skills. The employability of students gets enhanced through Apprenticeship Training. Large skilled man power pool for nation s development get generated if more number of Graduates & Diploma holders in engineering are trained systematically; Apprenticeship Training plays an important role for this.
II. OBJECTIVE OF INDUSTRY INSTITUTION INTERACTION MEET (IIIM): To evolve methods to match supply and Demand of Employment potential with respect to Industry as well as students. To evolve Consortium of Placement Officers to help more students opting for Apprenticeship Training. To evolve strategies for effective utilization of web-portal developed by Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai To evolve implementable methods to increase number of Apprentices trained in Kerala to 15000 every year. To evolve strategies to bring 2000 industries in the state of Kerala under the scheme
III. PARTICIPANTS : The participants of IIIM would comprise of the CEO s/ Heads of HR of Business establishments as well as Principals & Placement Officers of engineering and Polytechnic colleges and also Heads of Vocational Higher Secondary Education institutions.
